Re: Boosting Audio in T4XC
Hi Richard, I remember talking to you about this some time ago and some of your suggestions were very useful. I am still at a loss to understand how you get full power out of yours with a dynamic mic?

Re: Output power - Part deux
I think of the shields as more about heat removal. It's a bit different seeing Drake install unique tube sockets that accept heat shields and not expect a shield to be put on. I'll leave all 3 of mine

Re: Boosting Audio in T4XC
This "low tx audio" takes me back to when I acquired my first C-line. When I got it home and fired it up it was full power on CW, but I could never get more than about 60 or 70 Watts out of it on SSB.

Re: Output power - Part deux
Chuck: V-11, V-12, and V-15 should have tube shields on them. V-6 and maybe V-7 have tube shield sockets but do not require shields as Steve stated. Check the picture of the chassis top in the manual.

Re: Output power - Part deux
Just following up to the group. I think both my transmitters are doing fine. I had two issues (operator error). I didn't realize that the T-4XC reduced power in tune mode and I wasn't using the best

Re: Output power - Part deux
Those shields aren't needed except for one of the 6BZ6's, IIRC. The reason is that the shield mount has sufficient shielding without adding a shield. Check the manual to see which tube needs a shield,

Re: CS7 control voltages
Hi¡. the switching voltage is AC and runs about 27ish volts. The remote part is nothing but a small AC induction motor that spins a shaft a coax switch is mounted to. IT¡¯s really simple. several

Re: Boosting Audio in T4XC
All I can say is my T4XB modulates just fine with a variety of dynamic mics as well as a couple of non-amplified D-104s.? My usual mic is an Electro-Voice 664.? How are you folks determining "full"

Re: CS7 control voltages
Jim, thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. Just like the RCS-4, the doc is silent on the switching voltages. And they don't give a part number for the transformer to look it up. The solution

Output power - Part deux
I have a very late TR4-CW rit and on TUNE, can get around 205 watts out according to an Array Solutions, Power Master II and I can bury the meter in the 200W scale on my W-4. I also have a "C-Line"

Well, I have a pair of nice (not perfect) end caps. However, even though people seem to covet them, they only want to pay me $5 for them. Not worth my time¡ Gary W0DVN

4 line front plate
Is there a basic difference between 4B and 4C line front plates as to colour and gloss? The front plate in my 4B line has a slightly greenish, glossy touch, whereas my 4C line is in different shades
