Re: Boosting Audio in T4XC
*** I wonder if it could be simulated in software? Mix the audio up in software - that's easy... just multiply these samples by those samples. Brick wall filters, also easy. Chopping the simulated RF?

Re: Output power
Howdy, I have both a T-4XC and a TR-4C.? I've had the TR-4C for about 3 years and the T-4XC since I bought it new in 1975 or so. The most I ever saw out of my T-4XC is about 130W and the least is

Re: Output power
The K4OAH CD gives signal levels at various points in the RF path for the T-4XC. I don't know how similar your units are to the T-4XC, but it might be helpful if the designs are similar. -- Bill N0CU

Re: Boosting Audio in T4XC
That is the same approach that Ten Tec used. It seems like a good approach in theory, but the devil is in the details. There are several potential problems. First, the filter only removes out-of-band

Not sure if a different microphone may produce different results? The speech processor does make a difference,? but a tad more boost is what I think Drake Nirvana would be like! Bill N1WL

Re: Boosting Audio in T4XC
That wasn't uncommon. They call it "RF Speech Processing" as opposed to audio processing which is usually just compression. This is exactly how the Drake SP75 works. There were a number of

I have made extremely good experience with professional powder coating. It cost me 15 bucks for one 7-line cabinet and looks soooo good. Would never play with rattle cans again on these cabinets. The

Re: Boosting Audio in T4XC
My first thought is that the audio processor in the 7300 is doing a much better job with regards to compression than the DX Engr processor. This is frequently referred to as ¡°talk power¡±. It

Did someone mention in this thread general production steps, where 1st degrease, 2nd chromate and 3rd varnish (e.g. powder coating) applied on an aluminum sheet metal stands for a high quality paint

Yep, the tubes are the easiest things to check first. The capacitor in the VOX circuit would be next (sorry, I¡¯m in my phone and don¡¯t remember the ref des). 73, Steve Wedge, W1ES/4 Time flies

Re: T-4XB T/R switching delay
Good Morning Peter, You may want to try another 6EV7 VOX amp tube..it's easy and worth a try IMO. I have a T4XC that had a VOX problem that turned out to be a bad 12AX7 VOX AMP tube. BTW the 12AX7

Re: Output power
Hi Sean, My T4XB is doing nearly 160W on 40M in tune mode. Check your 12BY7 driver tube - my original one was a bit weak and it would only do about 100W before I changed it. Cheers, Peter - VK2AN
