A really tough time with the Dinah
2
I have an IC-7100. IC-208H and an FT-8100 with 6 pin dins. I am running Hamvoip with Simple USB. I am having significant problems with getting the audio from the internet to the 6pin radios out to an HT and then HT to radio to the internet.... I have swapped pi's and cables and am just flailing. Anyway, I could use some help with ALL the settings. P.S. The bad part is I had the 208H and 7100 operating fine a little over a year ago.... Peter NH6FU

Garbled audio with DINAH (but not only DINAH)
2
A couple weeks ago I started having issues with garbled audio. I have 2 DINAH on 1 system. I have a PAUL and finally was motivated to connect it and has the same issue. Good news is, it¡¯s not the DINAH or the computer. If you are running allstarlink ASL3 on a PC, the most recent updated kernel is distorting audio. The team is aware of it and the workaround for now is to pin the previous kernel for now. ALLSTARLINK V3 USERS PLEASE READ The stock kernel released with Debian Bookworm 12.9 introduces some audio problems with AllStarLink3/app_rpt. You will experience this problem in the following configuration: Asterisk/app_rpt is running on an amd64/x86_64 platform Asterisk/app_rpt is running on physical PC hardware (Raspberry Pis not affected!) The package linux-image-6.1.0-29-amd64 or linux-image-6.1.0-30-amd64 is installed To temporarily address the issue until a permanent fix can be identified, please apply the following hotfix to your system: wget -O- https://repo.allstarlink.org/hotfix/asl3-deb12-kernel28-fix.sh | sudo bash -x Follow all on-screen directions as needed. Reboot at the completion. This does not affect pi. -Michael

MX800 Repeater
5
Hi Guys, Our club has just got hold of a Spectro MX800 2M Repeater.. The Repeater has an DB15 IO port on the back where I believe it can receive Audio In and Audio Out. I would like to be able to connect this Repeater to the AllStar Network and are wondering if I could use a Dinah USB-C via a Raspberry Pi connected to the Repeater. Does anyone know how I can connect this Repeater Spectro MX800 Repeater to the AllStart network ? Thanks. Craig vk3ncr

How do I setup the Kenwood TM-V7 with DINAH?

I'm wondering if the TM-V7 will work for DINAH I can't find good information online or any videos on how to set it up. Does anybody have any good information or documentation on how to make this work?

DINAH -Demand soon to increase!! Be the 1st on your block to get one.
DEC 1- From the Hamshack of W8LM -Ice station Kansas... Last 2-3 days Yaesu has announced 3 new rigs. Descriptions can be found on YOUTUBE on the Ham Radio 2.0 Channel and Yaesu- John Kruk - Yaesu National Sales manager Channels. Of the new 3 FM ANALOG only FM radio's the interesting one which will increase DINAH sales , is the VHF-UHF 55/50 watt mobile. The FTM-150RASP https://www.yaesu.com/indexVS.cfm One of the new features is an receiver audio digital noise processor that brings weak signal audio up and reduces/eliminates noise. It reminds me of switching between weak signal work analog and moving to fusion.. There is a demo of it on the Yaesu Channel- John Kruk web cast.. If you've ever worked ANALOG weak signal and switched to Fusion, the same signal becomes crystal clear. John also speaks about how many hams are not interested in digital modes and the demand for ANALOG radio's is there. Yaesu is filling the need. I think he never mentions ALLSTAR as it conflicts with WIRES -X but he does mention you can run WIRES-X in Analog with these radios so it will work with DINAH.. He has to keep Brand Specific of course. Here's the deal.. the FTM-150RASP has a 10 pin DATA port.. Yaesu sells a ($29.95) 10 pin to 6 pin data cable that will interface to DINAH.. then DINAH goes into a Raspberry PI - your Flavor and you're on ALLSTAR. John states the 3 rigs will be available at authorized dealers the "End of November" which was yesterday.. Not like other manufacturers that announce radios and they are not stocked for 6 months. John also mentions all Yaesu Radio's come with a 3 year warranty, So scrounging for a used rig with a data port at some hamfest to plug in a DINAH in is no longer a crap shoot. When compared to a FUSION FTM-500 and all it takes to get on WIRES-X for worldwide communications.. Old poor hams like me, can have the same amount of fun, and even more with a FTM150RASP, a DINAH, and a Raspberry PI.. I have everything but the new YAESU.... Santa do you hear me??? DINAH-C not recognized by computer

My new DINAH-C (assembled from kit) is not seen by Windows computer (connected with USB-C to USB-A cable) or by Mac (connected with Apple USB-C to USB-C cable). Am I missing something obvious?

Can I use a 2m radio with DINAH to set up Allstar access for a local repeater?
5
There is a local repeater without Allstar access, and we'd like to enable that without adding anything at the repeater site. We are trying to set up a VHF rig with a DINAH, so the Allstar audio would be sent to the repeater. The repeater audio would be received into the Allstar node by the radio. We attempted it, but the repeater starts looping a transmit/receive cycle as soon as the TX is released. So it sits quietly, receives audio ok, but as soon as we try transmitting via the DINAH node, the repeater keeps cycling. Is there a way to do this, or are we just missing something basic?

What radio is your Dinah plugged into? For me, it¡¯s a Kenwood TM-V71A, and I just tune the VFO.

Strange behaviour when dinah connected to pi
2
My DINAH is causing my pi node to act erratic. It works fine for a while, then sometimes it knocks out the wifi on the pi itself out. I ping the pi and it will be non responsive, if i unplug the DINAH, the pi immediately returns to normal operation, and the come back online. It is a strange problem to have. Possibly I messed up when soldering something? The pi case is a skeleton case, so maybe there is some interference between the pi and the DINAH. I figured since the DINAH does not have a radio inside of it, it wouldn't be as much of an issue.

DINAH Compatibility

I have a ft-8100 that I would like to use as an allstar node for my local ham community. I am wondering if the device is compatible with that radio or if I will need to modify anything? Thank you Mike Lancaster KC9CFL brainmltdwn@... (815) 668-3768

FT-8900 / CTCSS Setup / Dinah-C
3
I can¡¯t get my node to accept only ctcss traffic. It works fine, but it will pass traffic even without a ctcss tone. The FT-8900 is set with ctcss enabled with ENC/DEC. I am using the main band. The packet speed is set to 1200. The packet band is set to main. I have trimmed the data connector to ensure that it is seated correctly in the port. The simpleusb-tune settings are: (H) plfilter= enabled (J) cos from= usb (L) ctcssfrom= usb I have tried to change these parameters with many variations with no success. These settings work fine on my other node that is using an FT-100. The node with the FT-100 will only accept traffic with ctcss tone as desired. Any help would certainly be appreciated. TM-D710 Compatibility
4
Hi Due to me popping the COM port on my Kenwood D710, I'm only left with the DATA port. Whilst I don't see an explicit PTT pin on the diagram, I note it is listed as compatible. Can someone confirm this is the case? Thank you so much. M0CRT
