Re: DINAH and Alinco DR-135T MKIII

The required cable wiring is in the Files section of this group.

Re: DINAH and Alinco DR-135T MKIII

The Dinah has a six pin mini din connector so maybe there is away to adapt it or have a cable made with a connector for 6 pin mini din and one for the DB9. Just need the pinout for both ends.

Yes. ? I ordered a cable from hammadeparts which works fine.

The DR-135T MKIII does not work at 9600 baud but works fine on 1200 baud.

Not without a 6-pin DIN to 9-pin serial adapter…

With one, it probably sounds great. The Alinco has nice unfiltered audio on TX and RX.

That is what I am finding with the IC-207H.? I found that is does have CTCSS for receive but COS is send to the node even though CTCSS is enable for received.? I would prefer not to key up all of the link repeaters when some one keys up on my Allstar node.

Hi Patrick, I deliberately did not mention the Ftm series because he specified 6 pin din.?

Hi:

Two radios I can think of off the top of my head, and I'm sure there are others, may be overkill:

The Kenwood TM-V71A has the option to chain COS for the data port to squelch in one of it's menus, as does the Yaesu FTM-100, and probably the 300 and 400 as well, though you'll need to convert it's 10-pin DIN to a 6-pin.

I have an old Kenwood TM-D700A that doesn't. Regardless of the state of CTCSS/DCS decoding, COS is always opened by a carrier, and there is no way to change that without modifying the radio. The effect is that, if you key up on the frequency the radio is receiving on without the correct tone, it sends COS to the node, but no audio.

This is the easiest?way to change wiring to 9600 baud for DINAH.

Today, I got a cable made up for me that essentially reverses pins 4 and
5 on a standard 6-pin DIN. This basically does the same thing as jumping
the 1200/9600 pad on the? DINAH, but it's switchable by just replacing
the cable.

Now, the received audio from my Kenwood TM-V71A sounds much, much better
as it is sending flat, after de-emphasizing in SimpleUSB, and using the
DCS filter, than the AF-stage filtered 1200 baud. I don't like the
steepness of the PL filter, and the DCS filter does the job well enough
unless the radio is receiving a really high tone.

The TX audio is unchanged, as the radio's data port is still set to 1200.

Just a FYI for anyone who wants to improve their RX audio to Allstar, at
least with the TM-V71A. I can't speak for other radios, but this should
work the same for any radio that sends flat audio on pin 5.

Oh nice!

Where did you get the cable made?

Or, how do I jump those two pins without sight?

Thanks

Re: DINAH and Alinco DR-735

Steve,

I'm not as tech savvy as it might seem. The DR-735 passes everything in TNC mode, even if the received signal does not have the proper CTCSS/DCS encoding as defined in the DR-735 settings. As for the second question, I don't have an answer, sorry.
