DD Mode experimenters in BC?
10
I would like to get in touch with some folks in British Columbia that built a DD repeater from a pair of ID-1 radios. That repeater, unlike the "official" Icom DD repeater, was full duplex (because it used the novel concept of a full time receiver and a full time transmitter). I *know* they existed... I just can find ANY mention of them online. ANY pointers appreciated, even if just from memory of people or names. Swapping pictures
7
After messing about with the settings in Menu>Set>Network>IP Address, and after connecting my IC-9700 to my shack PC via a LAN cable, I've managed to successfully upload a picture from the ST-4001W software to the IC-9700, I'm now looking to try transmitting a picture and receiving some back. I'm not sure what the etiquette is for sending pictures via repeaters and Gateways/Reflectors. Is there a document suggesting what is and isn't acceptable? I'm also not sure if there's anyone about my area, near Chesterfield in Derbyshire, UK, who might like to try swapping pictures using D-Star? I think it is possible to swap pictures with other radios than the IC-9700 as well, by using D-Star. Thanks - Dave (G0DJA) -- Dave (G0DJA)

23cm D-STAR Activity in UK?
5
Hi, I've just ordered an IC-9700 and, although D-Star on 23cm wasn't one of the reasons I decided to get this model, if it's got the capability, I'd like to have a go at using it. I am already on 23cm using a TS2000X and have a Yagi up on a rotator and have been on the band since about 2007. My main interest is working people on CW or SSB, but I can access a repeater that is about 52km (32 miles) away using 10 Watts under 'flat' band conditions, so I have a reasonable location for UHF. I did buy a DM4600 on 70cm some years ago and used it in my car for a while but lost interest as it was a bit fiddly to change channels and I was never quite sure that I had set the codeplug up correctly. So, I understand some things about operating a digital radio. The questions I have, whilst waiting for the delivery of my new radio, are 1) How many other 23cm D-Star users are there in the UK and 2) What can I do with it when I get the radio set up? Thanks for any advice. Cheers - Dave (G0DJA)

DStar 23cm Repeater
3
Several (many?) years ago I received a note describing a DStar ID-1 setup where two ID-1 radios were hooked back to back to make a simple cross frequency relay. This was in BC, in the Islands or near Vancouver. Perhaps folks who know of that system are still here and could share some links or other info if that is still running. Thanks and 73, Bill W7NWP

IC-9700 "model number"
4
Greetings all, Can anyone identify the "HVIN" code (usually 4 digits followed by some zeros and ones) associated with the IC-9700. All of the other current DStar radios have one, but it doesn't seem to be printed anywhere on the 9700 or its packaging. This code is used to interrogate the serial number of the radio via CI-V. Regards, Mitch AB4MW

Pointers to ID-1 Radio Bracket?
10
As I relate in this blog post - https://www.n8gnj.org/2021/07/frustrating-day-with-the-id-1s.html, I now own three used ID-1s. Two of the three did not come with brackets for mounting the radio. Can anyone provide a pointer to the P/N or name of the bracket for the ID-1 radio? I'm hoping that same bracket is used by another Icom radio that can be still be purchased as an accessory. Also, can anyone tell me what the ideal machine screws are for attaching the bracket to the ID-1 radio? I hope to get the ID-1s working in data mode attached to Raspberry Pis. I have no current "practical" use for them, I just thought it would be cool to get them on the air on the otherwise very quiet 1240-1300 MHz band here in Whatcom County, Washington. Thanks, Steve Stroh N8GNJ Bellingham, Washington, USA

Has anyone successfully connected to a 1.2 GHz DD mode repeater with an IC-9700 and accessed the internet?

Has anyone successfully connected to a 1.2 GHz DD mode repeater with an IC-9700 and accessed the internet? if so, would you elaborate on how you got it working. The manual is less than clear on how to do this.

What antenna do you use for a Base and/or Repeater on 1.2 GHz?
7
Wondering what antenna you are using for 1.2 GHz for a Base or a Repeater? I've set up a Comet GP-21 for event use at times. However, fiberglass antennas don't seem to last as long as some antennas such as the ones that Telewave makes. However, at present Telewave doesn't make an antenna for 1.2 GHz. Currently a local repeater is using a Telewave ANT150D6_9 on 2 meters. It's a great antenna for the coverage area we have. If Telewave made a similar model for the 1.2 GHz band, would you buy one? 73 Tom de KC9ONY
