Re: IDRP1200VD availability
Shanon,
We'd have liked that kind of response from Icom, but ours was different.? I'd sent our controller to them and didn't hear a thing for a couple weeks.? Then, late on a Friday afternoon, a woman called to tell me they had tried to repair an RP2C and had had no luck.? They returned ours without charge.
I'm glad to see that yours has been doing well.? Too bad you've had to move away from the area it's serving.? Enjoy your retirement!

FYI,
Over 5+ years ago my RP2C controller died.? I sent it to Icom.? They said it was not something they could repair.? They offered me a replacement circuit board that had been repaired for $99.? I said OK!? They also sent me back the bad board that did not show any signs of repair, even when viewed under a mag-light.? BUT, the board they sold me upon inspection had shown that all of the memory chips had been replaced.? There was no documentation or conversations with Icom that netted any more information.? The controller has since worked without fail.
The full stack repeater is in Westland, Michigan,? W8DTW is the call.? I have retired and moved 285 miles north.? There are no 1.2GHZ repeaters up here.? So I have no use for my two ID-1's.? I would consider selling them.

Michael,
I'm not sure where we ended this conversation.? If you're interested in any of the repeaters, we should probably talk by phone and work out a way to get one or more to you.? Otherwise, I'll continue to offer them to other D-Star users.

The following message below was received from the New Zealand and Australian Icom service departments. I have also asked Icom New Zealand to contact the technical division at Icom Japan who are providing us with ID-RP2C firmware updating. We are updating from V1.0 and V1.2 in the two RP2C controllers we have, to V1.6. Only Icom service agents can do this due to restrictions placed on Icom by JARL. Icom Japan (as above, RP2C firmware department) say they no longer have the ID-1 Adjustment Software and not even a CD version. So we hope someone out there might have it on a shelf. Icom Europe perhaps? Icom UK lost all their files in a server crash some years ago so I'm thinking almost all possibilities have been exhausted to find this rare Adjustment Software. Did Icom ever create it? Section 5 of the ID-1 Service manual clearly indicates that the software was available in 2009 or later.
Here is the feedback message from Icom New Zealand and Australia:?
We do not have a copy of the adjustment software and when we enquired about it a little while back with HQ we were informed that they no longer had a copy on file. I had previously searched around the globe for it but to no avail.
Lets keep looking. 73 and good DV. John ZL2TWS

Hi Will.
Thanks for your reply. Yes you are correct but the CD that is packed with the radio is the Control Software. Adjustment software is another CD that could be purchased from Icom or only available at their service centers. I have Adjustment Software for the IC-400Pro radio as an example and I see that other Icom radios can also use Adjustment Software purchased separately.

When I got my ID-1, it came with a CD.? I'll take a look at it and see if it is what you are looking for. Might take a while since I have it in storage.?

Re: IDRP1200VD availability
Michael,
I can't really guarantee the repeaters are fully functional.? We only know that when the controller failed, all of the repeaters stopped working.? I called the service people at Icom and talked with one of the folks there about our problem.? They'd seen it before, and they had tried to repair one of the controllers involved and couldn't do it.? That marked the end of the G2 systems.? But reading the exchanges among the 23cm ops, I gather that one G3 repeater can host at least one G2 machine.? So you might want to look into that option while you're deciding what to do with this option.
Hope this helps.

Hi Tom
Sorry for the late reply. I've been on holiday and tomorrow I go to work in Western Australia for 30 days of work.
I have asked Icom NZ, Australia, USA and HRO. I also tried RT Systems and no luck with any of those.
Icom NZ asked Japan but they say they don't have the software any more. I find this somewhat surprising as there is adjustment software for many radios Icom manufactured including the IC-400 pro.?I have a copy of that software.
While I am away I will write to Icom UK and Germany to see if they can help. Someone will have that software and a matter of tracking it down. Lots out there get confused between "Adjustment software" and "Control Software" which we had supplied with the radio.
I'll keep going and hope we get some help by next month. Icom Japan seem to only be contactable via the Icom dealer in the country that sold the ID1 radio. Maybe try from your local Icom dealer.
