What antenna do you use for a Base and/or Repeater on 1.2 GHz?
Wondering what antenna you are using for 1.2 GHz for a Base or a Repeater? |
We're using a GP-21 on top of the 250 ft. tower at the repeater site.? At home, I use a Comet CYA-1216E.? Both have been in service for nearly ten years and are doing very well. 73, Brad? KV5V Salado, Texas

Tom -? It was good to see you at the Jefferson hamfest.? The RF folder in the Files area of this group has several 1.2 GHz antennas described.? I understand the Hustler Spirit commercial grade 1.2 GHz antennas are very durable.? 73, Mark, WB9QZB

开云体育My choice for a repeater antenna would be a Hustler Spirit - They
come in 6,9, 10 & 12 Db gain varities On 4/9/2022 2:57 PM, kc9ony wrote:

开云体育We use Comet GP95s - lots of them.? They are a decently sturdy antenna - but have a fatal, 100% flaw.? The 6MM bolt on the base always loosens and the antenna always starts to wobble and spin, causing the coax to break off or come unscrewed. The bolt base fix is easy- a stainless hose clamp.? ? ? The GP-21 is similar base wise.? ?We have had no piece Comet fiberglass whip failures on 300' rooftops.? GP-3s have been good.? I have not had good luck with the GP-98 or other multipart Comet fiberglass whips.? I am personally seen four GP-9s fail.? They are hopeless for repeater service.? ? There are some other fiberglass 1.2 multiband whips- MFJ has one- not bad.? I am not sure there is much demand for 1.2 commercial antennas.? We use very few single band 1.2 antennas as we are usually delivering multiple bands per (scarce) antenna mount even on our tower trailer fleet.? ? Erik, NY9D ?
