Problem with Quansheng UV-K5 after CHIRP June Upgrades
4
I previously used Chirp successfully to download from and upload to my Quansheng UV¨CK5 back in May. Now (23-June, 20240618, Python 3.10.8, wxPython 4.2.0 msw (phoenix), wxWidgets 3.2.0), I¡¯m getting an error that says ¡°Firmware version is not supported by this driver¡±. I have upgraded Chirp two or three times since it worked well with this radio. I have the older Chirp installers saved. Is it safe to re-install an older version of Chirp on top of the newer one that isn¡¯t working with this radio? Thanks, Rob KK6JNI

Wouxum Q10H

Hello, I see there is work on adding theWouxum Q10H. How can beta test this and help with development? I have one and want to use it on field day. Testing the programming would hopefully help others. Please let me know if this is possible. Tim KM4ESU

Btech UV-25x2

I am trying to get a download image from the radio and am getting the dreaded Radio Identification Failed using the Btech programming cable. I have verified the use of the correct driver which is seeing the connection on COM4. Does the Data port on the back of the radio need to be enabled, or am I missing something else? Alan KB0CJP

Legacy vs. new
5
I have used chirp for more years than I can count. Because I switched to Linux years ago, it was the only alternative that didn't run on just windows. So I say this with no malice at all. As far as cloning is concerned: Your new chirp looks nice but it doesn't work. 1. I tried the new version again with my FT-8800, and no matter what I tried it errored out with a frame 0 error. 2. Same radio same exact Linux system, works fine on the lagacy system. So either fix the new system or never get rid of legacy. Thanks for all your hard work. Jerry WF5W

Changing Radios
3
Getting more comfortable with CHIRP. Figuring out how to do most of what I want to do at the moment. The question I have now is that I have 2 radios. Wouxun and Baofeng. Trying to figure out how to change the radio when I go to upload the file into the radio. I have the Wouxun set up in CHIRP. I want to be able to program the Baofeng the same way. But not sure how to make the switch. Bob W8RID

RT System File

I have the files that RT Systems created for a different radio that I no longer have. (ft-50r) I also have files for my KG-UVD1P. Is there a chance that I can convert those and save them to my UV-5R without to much difficulty? Bob W8RID

Trying to Download an IC-2300H
I ordered an RT systems USB-29A cable and now I can download with chirp. But I also bought the RT systems software. So now I have no need for chirp. I guess you get what you pay for! LOL! No support for Baofeng UV-5RX3?
7
Did not find the UV-5RX3 listed in the Chirp dropdown so tried 5R and 5X - neither would allow me to add the 1.25 mHz (220M) band frequencies, entering by copying from calling frequency list or by hand. Have not found any reference to this on multiple Chirp or Baofeng forums or listserves. Also, this is not a Baofeng issue specifically but Chirp was unable to access Repeaterbook despite many tries and the debug log lists an SSL issue. Any help would be appreciated including creating and importing csv files of the desired frequencies once the lack of support for 1.25mHz issue is resolved. Thanks Rob, KC4NYK

adding a new driver - python
2
Can anyone help with adding a new driver? I have been following the instructions here: https://chirpmyradio.com/projects/chirp/wiki/DevelopersPython3Environment and here: https://chirpmyradio.com/projects/chirp/wiki/DevelopersAdd_a_Radio but I am encountering difficulty. It seems that the instructions are not current or at least, not complete. By working with and tweaking the UV5R and BF-F8HP drivers I have figured out a few things, but I have another radio that I cant seem to get working. If I start with the UV17Pro as a base, It will start to read, but I keep getting errors. It seems that the memory locations and response amounts are incorrect, but I have not been able to figure out how to enter them. Simply changing _mem_size as indicated in the instructions does not work. I have captures of the read from the factory software (p15uv) I imagine that getting the read will make it easier to get the write to work. I also have the save file from the p15uv software, but it seems to be organized differently from the captures. I also set specific information to enable identifying things like memory locations, etc. Thank you!

Help Program Yaesu FT-65R with Chirp - Sort of Solved
For those who were following my problems getting the software (both Chirp and Yaesu) to program my Yaesu FT-65R with the Yaesu programming cable, you will remember that I could never get it to work on this HP-2000 Intel i3 Windows 10 laptop. Even though I had no problems doing so with all my other Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and even Linux Mint laptops. All those laptops were also HP-2000 laptops but with AMD CPUs. So in desperation, actually more out of curiosity than anything else, I ordered a cable directly from RT Systems. Their USB-55 programming cable. Went to their website and downloaded their driver, installed it. Worked perfect the first time out with their cable using both Chirp and Yaesu software. No issues. So it is a driver issue, something in this Intel i3 laptop simply does not like the Yaesu cable, some hardware (???) in it is causing the driver problem. Got any ideas what that could possibly be? BTW, I put a 2TB SSD in this laptop with a full fresh install of Windows 10. And before installing any programs, to eliminate all programs I had installed. except for Chirp and the Yaesu software, I tried the Yaesu programming cable with both programs. It did not work, so even a fresh install of Windows 10 did not solve the problem. But it works fine with the RT Systems cable. End of story, all FYI. Guess I'll never figure it out. But at this point, I really don't care. 73, Richard AG5M

Help Program Yaesu FT-65R with Chirp - Last Update
This is my last update on this problem until I can figure this out. Thanks to all who tried to help. Today I put a new HDD in this Intel i3 HP-2000 laptop and did a full fresh install of Windows 10. Did not install any programs except for Chirp and Yaesu's programming software. That did not fix the problem. Still cannot read from the FT-65R. Will not connect to Chirp. It would seem whatever the problem is, is with the hardware in this particular laptop. Yet I have no problems when I use the exact same HP-2000 laptop (I have several of these) but those have a different CPU set, one is an Intel i5, the others are AMD CPU. So I give up, have other things to do, will keep this problem on the back burner for another day, week, month, or year. 73, Richard AG5M

Help Program Yaesu FT-65R with Chirp - Update
8
Update: I just tried to program my FT-65R with two different lamps. one Windows 10 (same as the one I was having trouble with except this one has a AMD CPU rather than Intel i3). Otherwise they are identical, all the same programs installed in both. And I used my Linux laptop, again, identical laptop as the one I'm having trouble with but running Linux Mint. In both cases, using Chirp or Yaesu's software, no problems. Worked perfectly. Something is really wonky in that one Win 10 laptop. 73, Richard AG5M On Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 08:02:10 AM PST, Donald Hellen <donhellen@...> wrote: Richard . . .
