Changing Radios

Getting more comfortable with CHIRP.

Figuring out how to do most of what I want to do at the moment.

The question I have now is that I have 2 radios. Wouxun and Baofeng.

Trying to figure out how to change the radio when I go to upload the file into the radio.

I have the Wouxun set up in CHIRP. I want to be able to program the Baofeng the same way.

But not sure how to make the switch.

Hi Bob,

You can't directly upload a CHIRP Radio Images (*.img) file from a Baofeng radio into a Wouxun radio (or the other way around). It can only go bck into the same radio model type that it came from. This is why the Model selection is not editable (greyed out).

One method you can use is to take advantage of CHIRP's multi-tab interface. You download from both radios to create a tab for each
radio (or load a previously saved 'image' from one or both radios). Then you can copy-and-paste the memory rows between tabs. Finally you
upload each tab back to the same radio it came from originally.

Another method is to have the data from the 'source' radio saved as an 'image' file. Then create a tab for the 'destination' radio by either
downloading from it or loading a previously saved 'image' from it. Then you can import the 'source' radio's image into the 'destination'
radio's tab. Then upload the tab back into the radio that it came from.

I would recommend that you watch these videos:
