Re: ICOM IC-2820H uploading issue

To add to what I said, I found a forum thread on EEVBLOG that discusses the fake
Prolific chips, and there seems to be a work-around, using an older driver
intended for Win 7 64 bit. You would want version 3.3.2.105 of the driver. If
it doesn't remove the newer driver, you can do that yourself, then install the
older driver, and restart. Check Device Manager to be sure it's using the old
version. You may have to roll back the driver to use the older one.

(You may need to copy and paste the entire URL since my email reader doesn't
look like it continued the link after the first parenthesis.)

This is only something you may want to do if you think you have a fake Prolific
cable. There are other chips that work well, and the FDTI chip is the most
common, and I haven't read of any driver issues. There's yet another chip that's
a Chinese one, and you have to search for a driver for it. I have an "octopus"
cable with 8 different ends on it on one side, and a USB end on the part that
connects to the PC. It works well, too. But I had to find a forum thread
somewhere that had a link to the driver.
