I copied the NEW software down to? my Linux Mint laptop.
1. I fired up the Chirp program
2. did a dmesg --follow to see what was going on, plugged in the cable, (it said it was attached to /dev/ttyUSB0
3. menu item to download from the radio
4. no devices at all show up. but there's a help me item. Doesn't work. I enter /dev/ttyUSB0. Doesn't work. Nothing I do works.
So, I go into my closet, and bring down the ONLY laptop I have with Windoze 10 on it. And do the same thing.
1. installed the NEW chirp program
2. plugged in the cable, Device Manager said it was COM4
3. menu item to download from the radio
4. no devices show up, I manually put in COM4
5. it works.
I have come to the conclusion that the NEW Chirp program is BROKEN on Linux, but works on Windoze.
I, of course, would prefer NOT to have to drag then Windoze laptop out to do what use to work good on my Linux systems.
Am I wrong? If so, what didn't I do that would change my mind?
