#zBitx Tilt Stand for zBitx anyone?
3
#zbitx
Has anyone found or devised a suitable tilt stand for the zBitx? The rear panel is a heat sink so likely stick-on tilt feet would become "unstuck" with the heat. I'd be interested in what users have come up with to achieve a viewing tilt stable against screen touches. Pete WK8S

Homebrew satellite control system that can run on sBitx
9
Hi! More work following the path that Ashhar suggested. I have also bought an older Icom 810H that has full duplex VHF/UHF. I'm doing initial experiments on Windows PC, but I have already demonstrated full Doppler shift control of sBitx acting as the 10m transceiver to a transverter, so this can all move to the sBitx.... GPREDICT re-installed due to better location, tracking any satellite I like. Does all the trig and doppler MATH RIGCTLD - previously studied and working; receives tcp/ip commands from GPREDIT to do doppler shift adjustments of sBitx or Icom radio Today: ROTCTLD -- figured out how to run this on a windows machine. Receives trig output of GPREDICT. Converts (in this case) to Yaesu type rotator commands for Az/ elevation and sends out serial port (in my case, COM4, 9600 baud) K3NG Rotator Controller -- I havent made a board for this yet. So I took one of my homebrew WINKEYER ARDUINO simulators, and reprogrammed it using K3NG code to "act like" the controller, handling Az, El controls, reading the CW speed control as if it were an azimuth potentiometer; running the display and activating the "key" and "PTT" to rotate clockwise or counterclockwise. The reprogramming of my Winkeyer Arduino appeard to be a huge success. I properly set the pins to run the display, which worked FINE. It was reading the speed pot as an azimuth reading, and if I pushed "buttons" it would read different elevations. ROTCLD happily connected to it at 9600 baud, and the "rotator controller" accepted commands and displayed them. I was not able on the first test to monitor whether it activated simulated motor controls (key output, etc) -- but that will come. So huge success here and soon (days, weeks?) I should be able to lay out a board (many others have done so before me, but some just did crazy wiring between variuous "shields") to put all this in a neat little package with relay outputs, possibly with PWM output (dunno)., to control available rotators for real. 73 Gordon KX4Z

Unable to Update Pi Zero
10
Still trying to update zBitx Pi Zero. I've hooked up an external HDMI monitor and powered up the zBitx. I am presented with a pi login screen, but the default password is not working; I have not changed it to anything else. So I cannot proceed to the terminal program or do any updating. --Ed, N3CW--

zbitx - No Tx on WSJTX?
13
I have WSJTX running nicely on a 2nd monitor on the zbitx except that it is failing to trigger Tx with a hamlib error shown in the terminal window? Can anyone share their working WSJTX radio config for the zbitx? Many Thanks Chris

Wifi Alternate - Can you copy wpa_supplicant.conf into boot folder to get wifi?
4
Not that it is any easier, but if you don't have an HDMI adapter etc., can you open the radio, pull the microsd card, and copy a wpa_supplicant.conf file into boot folder with your SSID and PW to get wifi going? Jeff

Is it technically possible to open the sBitx / zBitx to use 6M or is it hardware limited? #sbitc_v3 #sBitx #sBITX_v3 #zbitx

Just joined the group. I ordered my zBitx on Friday....on the 4 week waiting list. Looking forward to playing with this radio. I belong to a group in Chandler, AZ called "BE-HIP" (Hams In Parks). We take our portable radios out to local parks and setup our stations. This radio is perfect for that. I am not the big of an FT8 fan, but with it built into the rig, it makes it much easier than dragging my laptop and support cables out to the park. Currently I am on the upper end of the price spectrum with a KX2.... -- "POWER, WE DON'T NEED NO STICKIN' POWER" - EVERY KX2 OWNER Always respect the airwaves, 73 de KI7PBR, Gary

Spectrum display window bug
#zbitx
I don't know if anyone has noticed, but the spectrum display frequency window is not centered on the frequency, the water fall is perfectly aligned but not the spectrum. I hope I explained this correctly, I'm sure someone will tell me if I didn't. Joel N6ALT

Carrier line
4
So, just recently I have noticed a carrier line which is very annoying. See on the photo my frequency is 14.044 and there is a constant noise line on 14.045. It is always there on every frequency and every band. I can diminish the sound by turning the IF down near 40. The line also follows any RIT movement.

CW decode
4
Got my zbitx updated. Cells charged. FT8 working but no qso as yet. Tring cw mode. Can't make any sense of decodes a stream of T & E which I suppose is to be expected. Tried different wpm to no avail. Not a CW operator but got the zbitx to encourage me to learn the craft. And real newbie question. There are two CW model in the zbitx manual. But only one in the manual. 73 de 2E0IIY Andrew Sent from Outlook for Android

Stuck on Waiting for the zBitx to start
2
After updating firmware, my zBitx ran ok once, but on the next power up is stuck on the "waiting" message. Also, I am unable to log in the pi as I don't know the default password (can't get into the files section to check user.ini). I attemped to change the PASSKEY but that keeps reverting back to "PASSKEY" when I power up again, and "PASSKEY" doesn't seem to work as my pi user password. Any ideas? --Ed, N3CW--

Power zero on 10m / Drive number
8
So, I'd been watching another thread for resolution, but it may not be the same thing. Questions up front. 1. Any reason why 10m is 0W? 2. See my drive? it's 96, and I don't know why I can't get it to 100. When using the wheel, it won't go any higher, though it certainly goes lower. These lead me to believe both are software configuration related. The problem: I initially had the issue with FT8 locking up the zBitx. Updating the both the Zero and Pico software resolved that. I'm at 1.6 and 3.051 now. Running sBitx on the external monitor resulted in 0W out. However, I'd still get 0 watts out when transmitting FT8 on 10m. However, I remembered I get less output on my sBitx at 10m, so I setup a 20m vertical and I got power out. I haven't had time to check 12/15/17m. Could there be a problem with the calibration files that I absolutely did not backup when I did the update? Any guidance would be appreciated! Matt

Do not run this on the zbitx
3
Because I was bored, I thought about upgrading buster to bullseye just to see what would happen. Do not run this RPI-UPDATE. This program updates the rpi firmware and breaks the sbitx software. It changes WiringPi and doing a rebuild does not reset it. Also running the sbitx/update does not help. I had to replace the sdcard with a backup to get the radio working again. Leo, AI5II

zBitx firmware update using Macbook/Raspbian
4
Hi all, I have been trying to update the firmware on the zBitx using a Mac and RPi box but without success. I have 1.04 installed as received. I’ve followed the instructions on YouTube using the recommended approach but no drive is shown at all. No problems with update at the terminal. Any suggestions/recommendations would be welcomed. Tnx and 73 Peter VK3TKK

CW on zbitx
38
I have fixed the two issues of zbitx on CW. The new update has good keying with Iambic keyer and the cw decode noise is now gone as well. To get this update, you have to: 1. Flash the new firmware (the firmware version is now 1.06). The firmware is available from https://github.com/afarhan/zbitxfrontpanel/raw/refs/heads/main/zbitx_front_panel_sw.ino.uf2 2. Update the new software on the raspberry pi, the latest version with the CW keyng fixed is 3.051 (or later). Here is Jose, VU2JOS sending CW with the new firmware update. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEVyuFrkBd8 With this, I hope we have moved on with CW issues. - f
