Re: uBITX - Sensible mods #ubitx
Ummm....maybe I confused the issue. The gate can be at RF ground, and at +(adjustable) bias voltage, while the souce is at input RF and grounded DC (through a coil?) Or the gate can be at both dc

Re: #Bitx40 Firmware update issues #bitx40
Hello Gordon, I will look into where I can find firmware V1.24 and give that a try. I know the Bitx40 is a SSB transceiver, I just find it easy to operate CW and have more QSO's than on SSB. Guess,

Re: uBITX - Sensible mods #ubitx
Arv: As Gordon points out, the grounded gate configuration applies to the exciter, not to the final...a power MOSFET must have a gate voltage. I wonder, since the gate capacitance is ca 180pF in the

Thank You Al - VE3RRD, I had to update my Arduino IDE on my netbook, I then followed your instructions at the link provided. https://www.dropbox.com/s/s327me4umdckcpc/Raduino_SW_install.pdf?dl=0 I

Re: ant tunner
The ZM-2 should work well for a uBitx at 12v. But if you feed the IRF510's 24v, you can get way more than 10W.

?Another person asked about SSB --- yes, grounded grid (and gate) should be usable for SSB. Nothing changes about the linearity (or lack of) in the device --- just the input impedance presented to

Re: uBITX - Sensible mods #ubitx
John AD5YE I understand that some people take "Grounded Grid" and "Grounded Gate" literally, but the Grid or gate could be at ground for RF but not for DC bias. That is common in several Ground

Re: ant tunner
From what I have read the ubitx is about 10w. I could be wrong. ?As for the zm-2 I have used it at 10w-12w all day with no issues the swr bridge shouldn't be used on more than 5w or so. ?You can

A "grounded gate" of what, Marco? Not of the IRF510 or any other MOSFET. The current through the device is determined by the gate voltage. with a gate at 0v, the current through the device is

Webpage says 15W max, the uBitx can do more than that. Could be the tuner is good at 15W only if the antenna presents a reasonably low SWR, anybody know?
