Evan just proposed what I believe to be the best idea I have heard for uBITX users to find and work each other -?using the BITX Live Map. Each of us could?activate "a specific symbol for each band" whenever we are listening on the appropriate ARRL QRP frequency for that band. All we need is an index of symbols. I have "activated" my call a few times but only seen one or two other "Live" symbols.? Never worked another "Live" station.? The map is a great tool.? Adding a frequency makes it better than just knowing there IS a needle somewhere in the haystack. Bob WB8BEL

Our field day went FANTASTIC.? ?We helped new people gain skills faster than we've ever done before.? ?We did our first evver?field day as our ARES-based club....at the EOC, and also in an attached field as a 2F, using batteries to run linear amps when the EOC couldn't test their? generators, solar to charge, petroleum to run, satellite efforts (unsuccessful)? AREDN MESH to Winlink Gateways to do bonus point radiograms, a full 26-page Incident Action Plan ICS-201 (we're an ARES(R) group!) and had a fantastic time primarily on FT-8 at 2 150-watt stations using vacuum tube linears.? ? Our group was very very pleased with the outcome.? ?

For this reason, the flagger's action is itself inappropriate, and it's an abuse of the flagging process--using it for merely-personal purposes.
At the *most*, a reasonable person might roll his eyes at a cross post or one which might be promotional. Anything more than that is off-topic and, frankly, pretty juvenile. Not sure how one goes about establishing one, but the Real-time ?dedicated sked pages seem to work very well, SKCC in particular. ?The last few times 10 has opened I listed there and had a pretty good run of contacts each time. FWIW. ?Scott Ka9p

I am posting this notice to uBITX operators: Next time I call CQ using a uBITX, I will be calling & listening on one of the ARRL QRP Calling Frequencies. I'm not notifying the ARRL because they are already expecting QRP ops to be calling there. If other ops I meet there have a problem with uBITX power, I will address that when it comes up.? I have made several uBITX contacts on the ARRL 20M &40M QRP Frequencies.? None of them have been to another QRP station.

If as you or someone here mentioned, the ARRL frequencies are more for establishing contact and then moving to another frequency, then the idea of a frequency for testing and possible ragchewing is not there. The 7,277 freq is what I was looking for but similar freqs on 80 and 20 meters, also.
Here's another idea: Let's forget it and pretend it never happened.

I do not suggest it is for net operation. It is suggested as a preferred frequency per band for testing the radios and having QSOs with other users to verify operation of the radio/s. And not necessarily at a particular time. And just a "preferred" frequency, not one cut in stone. But this is starting to become a point of contention apparently so let's migrate back to discussions of microphones and pinouts.
For my microphone, for example, I opened the little hole on the front to 1/8th inch but am waiting to test/use the radio so that is in the future. I plan to check into the KY Phone Net on 3838 kHz at 8:30 EST in the mornings since I will be mobile and not at the home station except for once or twice a week.
After stating with an HW-7 then going to an HW-8 followed with a TenTec Argonaut back about 1970 when I got started in ham radio (although I could have started in 1958 when I lived in Brazil), I look forward to more low power operation.

The Sunday night net was fairly popular for a while.? I don't remember who started it or promoted it but I do remember it took constant reminding on this list to keep up participation.? Much like bitxmap.com, if I don't mention it from time to time anyone who has joined our ranks since the last mention doesn't know about it.
To clarify my previous comment for those that are not familiar with the history, the Sunday night event predated the ?BITX.? Being on 40m it was all BITX40 operators although I think I remember some that built 20m radios trying to get something going too.? For those that are interested, viewing this list on the web interface and sorting by oldest date first opens a fascinating rabbit hole.

To limit it to a Sunday at a particular time is not a way to attract others. An announced frequency on ARRL, qrz.com and qth.com is a way to get people's attention. If you make it too specific to our group, many will not participate because it would make people wonder if it is ONLY for us. But now we have a frequency on 40M (7.227) so that's a start. Any testing, even if it's set up by phone, is a way to get someone's attention.
However, if it is already seen as a waste of time to even consider it, then by all means let's just forget about it. I wanted to see if anyone were interested and I guess I got my answer.
