Re: BITX 40 (Pot question)

Haven't tried this, but?I expect?a 1K pot?works as well as a 10K or 100K pot.
The only difference is that a 1K pot draws 100 times more current: 5mA instead of 50uA with a 100K pot.
And consequently it dissipates 100 times more power (25mW instead of 0.25mW).
So if power consumption is an issue then you'd better choose a 100K pot. (However the difference is marginal compared to the power consumption of the rest of the rig)

I've worked the western part of Venezuela, about two months ago, SSB, 5pm local time, 12V battery, loop antenna.
He gave me a 59 (let's say 57/58 real RST) but he had no problem copying me.

According to google maps:

Total distance: 407.11 km (252.97 mi)

Totally agree Farhan,

Here's a nice free book from Frank W. Harris, K?IYE

Farhan:

Of course I agree that copyrighted work, which is almost always the case when a publishing house is involved, should not be copied. However, I also know that thousands of torrent sites have been shut down, only to have them reopen a few days later by the same people. One of my publishers asserts that for every paid copy there are 6 copies that were downloaded illegally. I had one university in Brazil, one in Denmark, and one in Illinois that were giving downloads of my books free in the university library! ?I wonder how many we don't know about.

As I said before, the income I lose pales to insignificance when you consider the discouraging effect it has on potential authors or subsequent volumes by established authors. Not only is information not free, the concept of free information actually reduces the potential for more information by discouraging writers from further effort.

Re: Bitx40 Pavel's blend sketch updated (the Allard's folk one with S-Meter, TX-meter, AGC)

Pavel,

Since the linear potentiometer tuning function is now moved to a library, would it be possible, as a compile option, build with a rotary encoder library?

Thank you for all you work!

Re: Bitx40 Pavel's blend sketch updated (the Allard's folk one with S-Meter, TX-meter, AGC)

Michael Davis

Now that I have installed 1.17.1, I was wondering if anyone has a way to prevent the frequency from running up or down at either end of the 10 turn pot? That way, when full band coverage function is set, there won't be a way to go much below say 7125 (or lower for cw if desired) or much above 7300. I had installed the anti gallop buttons and resistors, but removed them when I added the new sketch. Maybe installing the resistors alone, once the tuning range is set where I want it. That might keep it from running up or down. Your thoughts?

Re: Pins and colors

Michael Davis

All set on pin colors, pin removals, pin re-insertions. I now understand the color code that was mentioned earlier. Pin A0-A7, black, brown, red, orange, yellow, green etc etc. makes sense now. It didn't earlier with only 4 pins inserted, it looked random. Thanks to all for your input and help.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Koss CS100 Computer Headset for use with the BITX40 !

I have been using my Yahama CM-500 with good results but I just received?a Koss CS100 from Amazon today.

I used the CS100 headset tonight and worked YU7XX in Serbia with my BITX40 and he was flabbergasted that I was only running 5W.
He said the audio sounded great so I am sold on the CS100. ?
