Haven't tried this, but?I expect?a 1K pot?works as well as a 10K or 100K pot.
The only difference is that a 1K pot draws 100 times more current: 5mA instead of 50uA with a 100K pot.
And consequently it dissipates 100 times more power (25mW instead of 0.25mW).
So if power consumption is an issue then you'd better choose a 100K pot. (However the difference is marginal compared to the power consumption of the rest of the rig)
