Re: uBITX Questions

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

The new versions of Software for uBit and BitX no longer uses external library for SI5351?

Try commenting it all out, it still should work.

You will see all the functions in your file that manipulate the Clock Generator.

I have bought over 2 dozen Nanos from eBay.? Never had to load a driver.? Probably was already on my PC?

Are you working with BitX or uBit?

And one more question:
I have read some comments about different "kinds" of ground for the mic vs PTT switch - What is that all about?? Do I need to connect ground leads to different "grounds"?

Let's Document ubitx modes etc. from the start

David

I would like to suggest we begin cataloging and detail modes and fixes for the uBitX in a file area from the start. One place to see it all for anyone getting a new kit.

I sent you message offline, not sure if you got it or not, I am trying to remember what accessory board I bought from you and stashed somewhere off the bench. ?Which brings us to these breakout boards you are offering here.?

Contact me: seems like a natural to display at the Builders Fest, on Jan 6, right along side of Dr. Jack¡¯s boards and the other accessory boards from others. ?I have an idea, to discuss.

PCBs are $12 or for $16 you get the RaduinoX (Nano version) too.? So try both?

Besides the Mega, I am trying to fit the 20x4 LCD.? Not much room left on the front of the cheapie plastic enclosure.

I don't know how long I can stand the WHITE color of this enclosure.? I think spray cans are needed!

Display is larger 4x20 with I2C connection.

Still lots more wiring, but the "not fun" stuff is done.

I second David's NESCAF comments. I've used mine to great effect on several radios...including my K-1 and a 3 tube regen set (!) and it's a star for CW work.
Happy to see the NE QRP group decided to bring it back.

Re: uBITX working, question about power, PTT pop, LOUD headphone output #ubitx

In terms of?reducing sidetone volume, perhaps a resistor to ground at the head of the RC chain (at R250) could work.
I don't have my uBITX yet so I can't confirm...may find it pulls the entire audio level down too much. For SMD incompetents such as myself it may be easier to tack resistor leads to ground than change an SMD out.?

Re: Board arrived - and just looking at it is amazing

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Ha, am I that famous? Well perhaps so, but mostly for older analog projects on the website. So here I am stepping back into hamming and homebrew after a bit of an absence. I was documenting a lot of my analog homebrew work, and just beginning to mess around with DDS VFO's. So glad I didn't go too far with it now because it's getting simpler!

Looking forward to playing with the uBITX

Let me tell you, Team HFSignals, that one would usually expect a kit for the kind of price you're charging, but here we are with a fully assembled main board. Pretty amazing. And if that board is hand soldered, it's amazingly neat. It's also neat to see the bi-directional IF amplifiers implemented with surface mount parts, saving a bit of room. It's so neat that any modifications I conceived of - possible all-solid-state TR switching - would make me reluctant to mess up the beauty of the board! On top of that, it's packed in a plastic box to re-use and store more small parts!

Will take a while to decide how to wire it up and package it, but thank you once again!
