Re: Power for zBitx

Raghav,?
Is there any chance that you can upload the SD card image , zipped, on some site.

You have one uploaded for sBITX.

Gwen,

I'm not sure if you have updated your zBitx to the latest software and firmware. To do a firmware update, you will need to follow the procedure mentioned by Farhan in this post. To update the software, you will need to connect the zBitx to an external display, keyboard and mouse, and use the terminal program to run "cd sbitx" (if you're not on the sBitx directory) followed by "./update" to update the software.?

You can refer to the Farhan has shared on YouTube for reference.

Hope this helps.

Re: Zbitx external microphone recommendations

If you are looking for a solution thats POTA/SOTA friendly, you can try either one of these three options:

1. 3d print a portable microphone such as
2. Buy a cheap microphone (like cheap baofeng microphones) from amazon, snip the exisitng connector and solder a 3.5mm TRS stereo connector.
3. Go for a DIY solution such as the ones seen .?
?
The wiring is similar to the uBitx and sBitx radios. The PTT switch connects to ring and sleeve. The microphone connects to tip and sleeve.?

Re: #sBitx #sBITX_v3 #sBitx #sBITX_v3

Neil,

The connectors are (from left to right):

1. Type C USB for powering the Raspberry Pi
2 & 3. Micro HDMI ports for connecting HDMI displays/Monitors/TV. There are two ports for dual displays
4. 3.5mm TRRS audio jack used to output the audio from the Pi.

Re: #sBitx #sBITX_v3 #sBitx #sBITX_v3

Those are the connectors directly on a pi4. ?Usb c is power only to the pi, ?other 2 are hdmi outputs and the last is the pi 4 audio jack. ?You can look up documentation on a pi 4 for more information.

zBitx manual

Pierre - FK8IH

As the zBitx have started to be delivered would it be possible to download the manual without owning one unit? This would be useful to help us to decide and order one unit when they will be again available. Other kit providers like QRP-labs allow prospective buyers to download freely their documentation.

What seems to be the most practical external microphone for the Zbitx? Thinking about one for POTA or SOTA.

Re: zbitx hung-up on startup

Tom,
It shows the tubes only on the HDMI screen. Does the software run on the HDMI screen? If it doesn't run, then there will be a black terminal window (on the HDMI screen) with?some error message. Do you get any?

What does it show on the screen? Can you send us a screenshot of your HDMI screen about 30 seconds after it displays the "tubes"?

Have you restarted the radio.?
If that doesn't work.? Try to connect to a monitor via the HDMI cable and connect to the wife and do the updates?

Re: zBitX radio hanging randomly.

Gwen, you should upgrade the firmware on the pico as well as the software on the raspberry pi?
Here is how you do it:
First, do this?
Then, this?

#sBitx #sBITX_v3 #sBitx #sBITX_v3

What are these connectors - both what kind of connector (one I believe is USB-C) and purpose?
?

Re: zBitX radio hanging randomly.

Ok. I may have one of those keyboard/trackpad combos somewhere. If I don't, I'll get one. I think I was confusing the method for sending the updated display firmware to the pico with connecting a keyboard/pointing device to facilitate getting the time up. I just hope I have an open HDMI connector on my monitor. I know where I have the cable. Might need a displayport -> HDMI cable. I had to juggle my ports on my monitor recently.
