Re: RTC on enhanced Nextion display?
Calvin,
Unfortunately a little learning curve to understand the layout and programming of the KD8CEC Nextion screens. The first step is to download the latest Nextion editor ( ). And then download the hmi file that you will find here: He provided two formats for the date, the format is coded into the file name. Now open it up in the Nextion editor. (It may automatically upgrade the format and ask you to save it depending on the age of the .hmi file) At this point, youtube tutorials on the Nextion editor are your friends...? You should see on the main screen a placeholder for the date/time. Select that and then look at the tabs that appear towards the bottom of the editor. These tabs have instructions on what happens when they get fired. Some are fired on press, some release, etc. Although I never looked at the code, I suspect that a click event might bring up a screen to set time. (look for a "page xxxx" command.) You can then select this page on the listing of pages on the right. There should also be some timer event or something else that links the time/clock to the RTC. Fortunately, all the coding and ux can be done in the Nextion editor and does not require any firmware changes.? Once you track everything down in the 3.2, you can then transplant that code to your screen (2.8"?) It will take some time, but once you get it it is fun! 73 Mark -- AJ6CU/7 KD8CEC 2.0, Nextion Screens,? and open source uBITX Raduino boards for Arduino IOT, BLE, RP2040, Teensy 4.0, and Raspberry Pi Pico https://github.com/aj6cu |

I'd assume that a Pi5 would be the better investment, not only fromIn case it helps any of you out, here are the Pi 5 bits I've chosen for my second sBitx board set. I like my packaged sBitx too much as-is to want to hack on it right now, and the Pi 4 feels completely sufficient to me there. For this build, the two key decisions were to use an NvME stick for storage (much faster than SD or USB) and to use an active cooler: Pi 5 8g NvME interface micro HDMI to HDMI cable (2) active cooler stacking headers The Pi is up and running quite happily on my bench hooked to one HDMI monitor, and I'm pleased with the performance as a development platform for sBitx hacking, et al. The active cooler is inaudible to me. I haven't actually connected the Pi 5 it to the sBitx board yet. The NvME thing being a "bottom board" for the Pi won't interfere with mating to the sBitx board, but the active cooler height motivates longer standoffs and one of the stacking headers to make more space to avoid collision with parts on the board, and ensure enough airflow to keep everything cool. 73 - Bdale, KB0G |

Hi John: The 3rd edition appeared on April 4 and it had the errors in it. (The August date was a typo I made in a post and not part of the book.) We quickly went through the book and corrected the errors. Many of them were small errors that would not detract from the reading (e.g., my name was printed "jack", the period was missing after the Figure number: Figure 12-1 instead of Figure 12-1.) We corrected those errors and the corrected version was printed on April 18. However, we told people not to buy it until we had reviewed it again to make sure something wasn't printed incorrectly, which we finished today. That's why I sent out the notice today, because we had reviewed it. While I mentioned that two errors remain, we don't think these are serious enough to keep it off the market. We posted the error log on the SCHR Web site. We will add to it if necessary, if you ordered the book on or after April 18, you have the corrected version. If questions remain, let me know. DSP T41 book
Jack, W8TEE
All: We got the revised edition of the book and checked it against our error log and know that all errors have been corrected, Two errors have been found since we submitted the error corrections: 1) we misspelled a Beta's name (Len Koppl is the correct spelling), and 2) the 160 and 30M filter values in the filter table. We are going to post a file on SCHR for the missing filter values and correct Len's name after a 6 month wait to see if any other errors come to light. To the best of our knowledge, all errors are fixed. If your going to FDIM, we will have some autographed copies for sale on Vendor's Night (Thursday) for $40. If you have already bought the book, we hope you'll take the time to write a review, as we lost over 140 good reviews on the 2nd edition when this edition came out. And, yes, you can still review it even if you reviewed an earlier edition. Again, thanks for your support for the T41 project, Jack, W8TEE -- Jack, W8TEE |

They aren't for any specific antenna tuner (or battery case). - f On Wed, May 1, 2024, 3:06 AM mmirate via <mmirate=[email protected]> wrote: (As described in the "sBitxv3 - First look" video.) |
Re: Sbitx audio drive for external programs
Ryan,
in order to have an output signal, make the following settings. If you use an external log program that is installed on the RPi, you will see the additional settings below. Use SSTV only on an external PC on a laptop, because qsstv doesn't work with sbitx anyway. MMSSTV 1.13 is currently being further developed by a Spanish team, which you can find under the name MMSSTV-YoniQ 1.13.3. This requires an external USB audio card (I use the WB2CBA made by Barb). Yesterday I managed to make some qso in sstv mode using sbitx and external laptop and the usb audio card. It was exactly 39 years ago that I first saw an sstv image on the converter I built myself with 39 ttl ic. :-) I was a little nostalgic. -- Gyula HA3HZ |
Sbitx audio drive for external programs
Has anyone found a solution to getting a decent rf output using external software with the sbitx?? I am using the 64bit image with sbitx manager. Checking with an external meter I get 25w on 40m and 20w on Sbitx screen with both cw and ft8 built in modes.?
On DIGITAL with JS8CALL and FLDIGI I don't see any output on the sbitx meter itself I have not checked with the external meter but there does not seem to be any modulation coming from either program showing up on the sbitx screen just a flat line on tx.? The loopbacks are setup per the manual though I have tried other settings and on receive works fine.? No way I can find to drive the audio out from the external software into the Sbitx (pavucontrol or alsamixer) that seem to make a difference.? I see reading on here this is common.? Has anyone come up with a solution??? Thank you Ryan? KK6DZB |
