Hi Ecca.

You can perform a recal using the information from the wiki..

  • Transmit power calibration
    • Discussion of the hw_settings.ini file:?link1?link2
    • Calibration of V2 and earlier units without built-in power/vswr monitoring:?link

    • V3 and later units: No need to calibrate tx power, use factory or v3 settings file:?link1?link2

JJ here is a video of that volume anomaly I found.

Re: sBITX 64Bit Pi Image Available #sBitx

I probably should have specified I am using a v2 board.?

Re: uBITX V6 AGC

IMHO that is one of the things this radio lacks.??I glad there is an option to buy a kit

Re: sBITX 64Bit Pi Image Available #sBitx

Thank you all for sharing your trials and tribulations with the software build as I noticed some minor errors as well.

  • JS8Call is not setup to use the proper soundcard output
  • The KBD crash is present and the taskbar needs adjustment
  • The build uses NTPSEC instead of standard NTP and some external apps may not work properly
  • The 2GB pi slows down a lot when multiple apps are running in the background (could be heat related since there are no fans or heatsinks on the Pi components)
  • Further testing is required for external audio devices and proper audio routing
  • Calibration may need to be required on boards below the V3 revision (I am unable to test that since I have a V3 board only)

I aim to tackle these concerns through the beta version and enhance it further. Additionally, I look forward to HF Signals experimenting with it and contributing to its refinement.

Yes, it works. Feel free to use the File Manager.
First you copy it to a USB stick, then back to the new SD card.

ubitx version 5 board photos

I recently received a version 5 ubitx that was damaged in shipment.? The speaker came loose in the case and broke some of the filter inductors loose from the board.? Is there a photo of this area to help in re-installing the inductors? Thanks.

Re: sBITX 64Bit Pi Image Available #sBitx

So how does this “install” onto the sd card then? I am not fluent in these sorts of activities so I need a little help getting the disk written. Do you have a txt document detailing how to do this?

I created a pre-compiled version of sBitx on 64 Bit for the Raspberry Pi4 for those who are interested.

Please go ahead and test it, sharing your thoughts afterward. Consider this a beta version, pending improvements based on the feedback I receive.. I've included sBITX Toolbox as well as other ham radio apps. It has been tested on both a 2GB Pi and 4GB Pi without issues. The download is designed to fit a 32GB SD Card or USB storage device.

G'day Steve.

JJ explained on his github page :?
  • Copy over your hardware calibration settings file to (/home/pi/sbitx/data/hw_settings.ini)

Apparently, the sBitx v3 should NOT be calibrated, only use that "hw_settings.ini" file that came with your sBitx.?

Re: sBITX 64Bit Pi Image Available #sBitx

Sorry, I was a bit hasty in describing the error. After I installed JTDX and started it, I saw that I had different times in different places.
It's a 64bit OS as posted by JJ.? There is no TZ= in the .profile file ... what should I write?

The local time in the RPi Configuration is displayed correctly on the Menu Bar.
JTDX GMT is displayed correctly (-1 hour), while sBitx shows -2 hours in the top row, i.e. neither local time nor GMT.

Re: sBITX 64Bit Pi Image Available #sBitx

Hi Gyula,

Check that you do not have a TZ= line in the /home/pi/.profile hidden file.

Re: sBITX 64Bit Pi Image Available #sBitx

Should the calibration procedure be done when using this image, or does the settings file that I'd move across contain that information?

Re: sBITX 64Bit Pi Image Available #sBitx

JJ,
I had a little problem with the time display.
I set the local time to Europe/Budapest, it displays it correctly.
However, the sBitx time display is -2 hours, which should correctly be -1 hour.
I can't find a .profile folder here.
Where can I fix it?

Re: sBITX 64Bit Pi Image Available #sBitx

Ahh.. it was related to booting with USB headphones jacked in.. that's a tricky gotcha.
Sorry for the seemingly incessant posting.? it's the weekend and I was looking for a project.. lol

Re: sBITX 64Bit Pi Image Available #sBitx

JJ on my first SD card burn my sbitx didn't start, I figured it was a bad copy so I made another and this one worked well.?
I rebooted and now when the sbitx is launched it immediately closes.?
fired it from the shell and I observed the error:
sbitx v3.02
sbitx: simple.c:652: snd_mixer_selem_has_capture_switch: Assertion `elem' failed.
Aborted

Any idea what that is? I wonder if its somehow related to the strange volume control scaling I noted earlier.

I found that if I moved my taskbar?to the bottom its even better.
YMMV

I have it installed on a 128GB USB drive, and it's booting as the primary device (this leaves the original micro sd card in the Pi4).
Its working nicely so far. I've been able to test-drive JS8Call by sending to/from my shack 7300 & PC.? Sweet!
I found that by reducing the desktop taskbar down to 30 pixels, the sBitx program can be maximized (no crash on clicking KBD) and the only things then hidden by the taskbar is your call, grid and utc time, so very usable like that.??

Thanks JJ, nice job with Bookworm 64bit.
