First I really like the newest version, saving the mode is a big plus in my opinion. As long as we are discussing writing frequencies to memory, from my viewpoint I don't see the purpose of writing it at all. I would much rather see several "memory channels" instead. Also I think it would be more convenient to have a select-able startup frequency when you power the radio up. Maybe a different startup for each VFO.? I normally always tune to the digital area first before I go looking elsewhere. I would guess many people have a favorite place to look first before tuning around. Also I understand the reasoning behind staying with the "stock" hardware but with the new menus that have been created using an encoder sure would be handy.
