ATU-10 has been released...boards
The boards designed by Glenn, VK3PE, arrived today.
These boards are have identical circuitry to the David Fainitski, N7DDC, boards EXCEPT: 1) Glenn's board uses the same PICs but with different packaging and footprints. A 44pin QFP is used for the main PIC and a 14 pin ? ? SOIC is used?for the second PIC. Both of those PICs are available today from Mouser and Digikey. The 5mm QFN parts David ? ? specified are difficult to find today with the worldwide shortage (except in China) and will probably be available later this year or ? ? maybe?next year. 2) Glenn's board has a USB-Micro connector footprint added in addition to the USB-C connector footprint so you can use either. 3) Glenn's board has "tabs" on the side to adjust the width so it fits in several extruded aluminum enclosures. AS-IS fits in a 100mm ? ? x 88mm enclosure (like the uSDX Triband Transceiver). Trim the "tabs" to the first line and the board fits in a 100mm x 82mm ? ? enclosure. Trim the "tabs" off to the?second line the board is the same size as David's ATU-10 board and fits in a 100mm x 71mm ? ? enclosure. Is that a cool idea Glenn had or what ? 4) You would be responsible for all the rest of the parts needed. The IM41G latching relays are still available on ebay for $10 for 10 : ? ? 10pcs IM41GR 5-1462037-4 Signal Relay 2A 120VAC 3VDC SMT 8 Pins 5) You get the pleasure of building your own ATU.? Boards are available from me for $5 postpaid in the USA and shipped in a "Non-Machinable Postage" envelope. Overseas postage is outrageous and much higher. Send me a private email if you want one.? 73 Kees K5BCQ |
I'm just about to send a batch of other boards (uSDX sandwich) to JLCPCB and to add this board should be not more than €4-8 and shipping from the UK after Brexit is pretty awkward when it comes to customs and VAT trouble. Our post office is not very nice to us, or you, depending of how you view it. They take about €28 just to 'help' you pay those other fees.JLC ships with DHL. I'll get 5 boards from JLC, as it is minimum quantity, to share four with fellow Swedish hams as well. |
I quite understand.? You'll?need to get it from Glenn I could use an eBay listing to get them to collect the VAT under online?marketplace rules if that is any help for EU hams. On Thu, 14 Oct 2021 at 12:05, Bj?rn (SM0SBL) <sm0sbl@...> wrote:

I had to pay PostNord, the Swedish post office, €28 even when ebay collected all VAT and customs. The document they sent me stated €0 in VAT, €0 in customs and €28 in adminstration fee...
Do I have to say I really, really don't like our Swedish royal mail provider, to use words acceptable in a public forum? |
I'm pleased that Canada Post has abandoned any pretense of collecting VAT or duties for orders ~$100 Cdn, regardless of country of origin. However, parcels are still inspected by Customs for illicit contraband, which means cheap parts from China can take up to 2 months delivery, IF you can source a reliable vendor...
As a result, I purchase very few items from Ebay vendors, and now prefer Aliexpress because of their superior arbitration. I just ordered Glenn's 100x82x27mm ATU enclosure for $7 USD, including shipping! |
Hi all, as explained in my posts and repeated here, my version of the N7DDC PCB was derived by circuit tracing the original board by N7DDC.
I have built up two my PCB's though and I can't fault it but it would be nice to get verification from another builder at least. I'm not sure how N7DDC released his Gerber files as I'm not across the various ways of doing so. But on? verification I will place the Gerbers on my GitHub account once I figure out how that's done. Maybe certain, prolific contributors could be allowed file-posting privileges in order to keep the section from being overrun with everyone and their mother adding folders but it seems to me that would be an easy and already accessible place for all involved, designers, builders, and everyone in between. Just a thought :) |
I have now ordered 5 boards from JLCPCB.
Now the very interesting search for components begins... So far I think I found a suitable replacement for the TCA9555 in the PCA9555 but it is difficult to find both the Si5351 as well as the TP4056. I can live without the TP4056 for a while and feed external power but not the Si5351. Suggestions where to find a reliable source for this, and potentially other components I have not yet realized is difficult? What I realized just a little to late is that JLCPCB has the TP4056 in stock and could have mounted it on my boards for a very small fee. They however don't sell chips, only the service to mount them at produciton. |
Get the right model and you'll also get a USB C connector too On Sun, 17 Oct 2021, 05:00 Glenn, <glennp@...> wrote: Bjorn, you might be mixing up another project (uSDX ?) with the ATU-10.? There are no TCA9555 or Si5351 in the ATU. |
