Re: ATU-10 Firmware V1.4 - OLED pixel shift to Right of display
#ATU-10
Thanks for the heads up - yes I did read you post - thank you.
I am one of the fortunate "buyers" who is fully aware of the pitfalls if and when making "faulty goods claims" on AliExpress (or eBay) - because I went through this some time ago with a seller who shipped me a device which was not same (specifications) as depicted on site. Needless to say - they said they will rectify this, BUT conveniently "stretched this out" to over 60 days - making any "claims virtually impossible. Fortunately for me the seller was "honest" and did resolve the issue to my satisfaction - but simply took a long time. I was lucky. After this I learned about all the tricks that "bad" sellers use and if there is a potential problem I am always mindful to resolve any issues within the first 5 days - still giving me some options (and time) - if there is no progress. My seller was not same as yours, I believe they are trying their best to resolve any issues - they said they will contact their supplier (the OEM I presume - who markets the SAME units to the majority of sellers) - to ask for their "fix" to this problem. I gave them 48 hours to get me some response. If my unit checks out OK with operation (relays and function) - I can accept a faulty OLED screen - will simply replace the screen myself. If the ATU-10 had other hardware problems - I will not be able to fix at the present QTH as don't have the appropriate tools nor time. Hopefully this weekend will be able to do some in-depth testing. Will report here. Lets hope that all of the above information is useful for others who are using or are thinking of getting the ATU-10 and might have a problem. Its a great device - I highly recommend getting one - a working one of cause - but just in case yours has a problem (like mine) all is not lost as the majority of the "sellers" are good and will resolve any problems - use the review system on AliExpress - if their scores are above average - you should have no problems. 73¡¯s de VK3TET Joe |

Hi Joe,
The same with me (AliExpress - Hisonauto) ¡ but you¡®re lost in space if you experience any trouble, have a look at my story: /g/ATU100/topic/89736113 I endeavoured the ?dispute process¡® of AliExpress, and after some time Hisonauto agreed in my error report, but afterwards refused any further communication. There was no possibility to re-activate the dispute process contacting AliExpress once more. <Well, for a new device ¨C presumably checked before shipping ...> Very optimistic! There is obviously no check at all before shipping ¡ sloppy production seems to be not unusual. There are other similar experience reports in this forum. Good luck! You don¡¯t need to have access to a compiler or some patching ¡ just install firmware from Github. In your place first I would RE-install firmware 1.4, and possibly have a try with 1.3. Flashing a new firmware works trouble-free within a few seconds. I did it several times ¡ this is the only thing my device does well. ATU-10 Firmware V1.4 - OLED pixel shift to Right of display
#ATU-10
Hello, After considerable research I am now the proud owner of an ATU-10 When you see this device ¡°in your hand¡± ¨C it¡¯s truly amazing - WELL DONE David! ? I did not have the time nor my SMT workstation (microscope and all of the SMT rework tools) since at different QTH ¨C so I chose what I hope was a reputable AliExpress supplier and ordered a fully assembled unit. The ¡°seller¡± was responsive and shipped the ATU-10 promptly. I received the device yesterday ¨C within 10 days ¨C which is great and all for about AU$100 ¨C which is great! ? When I opened the package and held the ATU-10 in my hand ¨C I could hear a loud rattle when moving the device up / down / and around ¨C something definitely loose inside. Quick look inside the case revealed a retaining ¡°wire¡± for the OLED screen coming loose due to cold solder joint! No big thing ¨C easily fixed! ? When powering the ATU-10 I could clearly see that the OLED text is shifted multiple pixels to the RHS of the OLED screen. See the attached photos ? Well, for a new device ¨C presumably checked before shipping ¨C this was disappointing. (I still have not checked the full operation of the ATU-10 ¨C its tune function ¨C as I am still awaiting some components / cables, etc., before doing tests) The ATU-10 was flashed with V1.4 firmware ¨C presumably stock .HEX from GitHub? ? I know that for the ATU-100 device there is a patch you can do with pickit3 software for the EEPROM - cell location 08 ¨C whereby its possible to move the OLED pixels to the LEFT ? Unfortunately, I don¡¯t know if there is a similar PATCH which can be done for the ATU-10? ? I don¡¯t think so ¨C because it uses different PIC and method of programming the firmware ¨C much easier than using the pickit3 ? Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has experienced the OLED pixel shift with V1.4 firmware? As in this moment in time I have no idea why the pixel shift is occurring? It could be one of the following reasons; ? 1.?????? Bug in firmware 2.?????? Nonstandard firmware (unlikely ¨C I think it¡¯s from GitHub ¨C since not many have $300 for compiler) 3.?????? Wrong OLED display OR Faulty (unlikely since all seems to work ¨C except for the ¡°shift¡±) 4.?????? Some other ¡°construction¡± / assembly issues which caused this problem (Hmmm?) ? Anyway, if its none of the above ¨C I might have a real problem as it will be difficult to ¡°fix¡± without either patching the firmware or having access to the compiler? ? Hoping someone (maybe David can chime-in for a comment) might be able to throw some light to the above rather strange pixel shift for the OLED display. ? One interesting thing is that the power off message is WAY OFF ( hi ) as the ¡°F¡± is completely appearing on the LHS of the screen. ? Any comments / suggestions are most welcome. ? 73¡¯s de VK3TET Joe |

Re: ATU-10: USB type-C to USB type-C does not work while USB type-A to USB type-C does. Why?
Tony,
Likewise wish i knew!??? I simply followed Davids original PCB. I have updated my Sch to include the two 5k1 resistors if a PC with USC-C socket is used.?? PCB will be changed asap also.?? But for most people, I think won't be an issue. This is how I have added the resistors, ie the pins used.?? If anybody believes this pin connection to be incorrect, please let me know. Glenn vk3pe |

deciding if my new ATU-10 is defective?
So, ATU-10 just arrived yesterday for use with my IC-705.
I've seen a couple of youtube vids... seemed easy enough to hook up and get going. Only thing is, I can't get it to work. So, when I begin a tuning cycle, either by pressing the tuner button in the menu or keying up, it just goes into constant key-down tx ....with the red "tune" box flashing next to TX in the upper left. Sometimes I hear brief relay clicking (like a micro second), but mostly not. The only way to stop it from transmitting is to pull the 5mm connecting cable. I've tried a different 5mm connecting cable, but the same thing happens. This is my first attempt at using ANY auto tuner, so I won't be surprised if there's a setting I'm missing or something, but the vids made it look pretty easy.... which makes me think maybe I got a defective unit.? I appreciate any thoughts you all may have. 73, Tim KD9LAI |

Re: ATU-10: USB type-C to USB type-C does not work while USB type-A to USB type-C does. Why?
Dear Mat¨§j!
I wish I knew that earlier, - when I modified the PCB (to accommodate TQFP chip and AD8361 detectors)! So, as Chapter 5 tells, there should be two 5,1 kOhm resistors - from each CC pin to the ground. Huge thanks for the information. I'll update my PCB (alas, I have it already fabricated and delivered), for the future. Warm regards, Tony |

Re: ATU-10 operates incorrectly
#ATU-10
Hi Onno & Glenn,
my PC had several crashes (OK ¡ 14 years old, but still very suitable for Linux) and I moved the system to another hardware (also 14 years old ... :-) ...) ¡ but now we move on: @Onno: The sense wire is an INSULATED wire (TRANSPARENT insulating hose). Your comments surely are important if discussion revolves around measuring accuracy on a higher level. But in this case I want to clarify the crumbly poor functionality as outlined at the very beginninmg of my thread. You cannot use the tuner at all. @Glenn: I checked all labellings (OK!) and I performed the measurements. For the sake of simplicity I noted the values in your picture of the board, in each case <measurement> / <measurement with reverse polarity>, see attachment. All values in KOhm EXCEPT for Rs marked with * with values in OHM (I think R13 & R14 of your drawing attached as excerpt. These Rs labelled ?50¡® on board next to them themselves are labelled ?48R7¡®. I don¡®t meet the reverse 33K as notified by you. I carefully checked the layout once more and couldn¡®t detect any shortcuts. But ultimately hard to see even with magnifier because so tiny (and my eyes so old) ¡ 73 de wolf, dk1et |

Re: ATU-10: USB type-C to USB type-C does not work while USB type-A to USB type-C does. Why?
Hi Tony! Devices equipped with a USB-C connector, which are power consumers, shall have the CC pins pulled down by pull-down resistors of 5.1k¦¸. This informs the power supply that the device is a "sink".

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi, It is mandatory to use BAT41 or 1N5711. You can also check the two 50 ohm resistors ... in general all the components that make up the tandem match, including the resistive divider. Check with a multimeter if there is a correct FWD voltage; if so, the controller may be defective. --- Cu ganduri bune, Marius ¨C YO6RK senty.ro 73! -------- Original Message --------
Hi Marius,
thanks for reply! I tested the diodes, and they seem to work ok, I would change them anyway but don¡¯t have any appropriate low-drop Shottky (I suppose 1N4148 isn¡¯t an option here?). Is there anything else I should check? 73,? Du?an |

3d printable case for atu100 with .96 oled screen.
#atu-100
Hey everyone, I have assembled my kit and I'm excited to work out a case for it.?
I found the STL for the 3d printed case but it appears to be designed around a different screen than was supplied with my kit.? Does anyone have a file for a case that can accept the .96 size screen?? Thanks so much for all ya have done for this project!? Trey KO4LOR |

Re: ATU-10: USB type-C to USB type-C does not work while USB type-A to USB type-C does. Why?
Tony,
I noticed and reported this a while back. I think it is a limitation of the design. I am not a USB expert, but I looked at the schematic by VK3PE and it appears that only the USB 2.0 data lines are connected. 73, Scott AK5SD |

ATU-10: USB type-C to USB type-C does not work while USB type-A to USB type-C does. Why?
Hello!
I have a laptop with both types of USB sockets - the USB type-A and USB type-C. When I connect ATU-10 (original N7DDC version) using the USB type-A to USB type-C cable - the connection works, the charging begins. If I try the USB type-C to USB type-C cable - there is neither the charging nor the disc mount. The cables are OK, tested with every other device I have here. Why is that? Is it possible to fix? I'd like to use the USB type-C cable with ATU-10. Regards, Tony |
