I personally use an AT&T Tilt Windows Mobile 6 phone. I've got a
windshield mount and mini-USB power for it in the car along with a
portable LioN battery set with 5v regulator for when I go out
geocaching. With the phone's GPS and data connection active, I get
about 2 hours on a full charge. Drop the GPS but keep the data and I
can get about 6 hours. With the two LioN cells regulated, I can run
about 6-8 hours with full GPS and data.

The worst thing I've done to it yet is hook up a 12v lead acid battery
with 5v regulator and ran the phone, data connection, GPS, WiFi, along
with APRSISCE and Navizon for 10 straight hours on a road trip to/from
Atlanta and Clemson University (two separate trips). The phone requires
cooling if you ask it to do that much for that long with the radios
always active!

Thanks Lynn!

I figured the area usage really makes it somewhat unknown. The data you
appended is quite useful anyway.

The unlimited plans that come with certain phones makes sense. I don't have
one of those phones yet. I can't even run your software yet but am looking
at possibilities at the moment. One never knows what the future is.

BTW, what phone are you using currently? Actually, I am wondering what
phones others are using as well. Now that I think about it a little anyway,
maybe it is not a phone. Either way, what are you using?

Thanks!

Best regards,
Fred

"There is no way I can give you any idea on the data passed per month, week,
day, or even hour. It all depends on the APRS activity in your specified
range as well as your specific configuration for beaconing.

I highly recommend that anyone running this program have an UNLIMITED data
plan on your phone. There are so many variables in the APRS-IS feed that you
could very quickly rack up a bill that would astound you.

Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ

PS. Be especially cautious of "disabled" data connections. AT&T in

seriously put a dent in your wallet."

Thanks!

It is the code for this program. You sent me the my unique code for my call sign before but I lost it. You sent me the program directly through email early this year and then started the yahoo group shortly after.

Sorry, wrong group.

APRSISCE is a new implementation of an APRS-IS client for Windows Mobile
(yes, I messed up in the program naming).

APRS/CE is a completely different program that seems to have completely
ceased development and is not supported in this Yahoo group.

Re: aprsis for Blackberry

Lynn W. Deffenbaugh

Currently, not that I know of. APRSISCE is for Windows Mobile only.
I'm hoping to port it to also be a Windows desktop app, approximately
the same time that I add OpenStreetMap.org support.

A friend of mine (KJ4HPQ) runs a Blackberry and is working on a native
client for that platform. He tracks as KJ4HPQ-12, but not directly
through APRS-IS at this point.

Re: Running on Ipaq 514?

APRSISCE only supports GPSapi-supported (typically internal) GPS
devices. I'm hoping to include NMEA over serial support at some
(indeterminate) point in the future. Sorry about that, but continue
tracking this group and you'll know when it's available.
