Re: FTM-500 - Transmit from APRSIS32?

That's probably the route I'll go, was just hoping that the TNC in the FTM-500 was usable as, well, a TNC.

It was specifically NOT possible with the FTM-350.

The Yaesu line if radios will only out put Aprs. There is no access to the internal tnc. A work around is to have an external tnc attached on the data port and use that. This is what I'm doing with my home station. Aprsis32> TT4> FTM-400. The TT4 is locked in kiss and does the digipeating for the station. Aprsis32 handles gate traffic in and out. The 400s internal tnc is still on and still recieves packets and can transmit too.?

Been experimenting with APRSIS32 and my FTM-500, mixed results. Using the standard Yaesu cable SCU-56.
- I can get data from the transceiver into APRSIS32. That is, when I configure and enable a port for the FTM-500, and run APRS on the radio, the APRS traffic is streamed into APRSIS32
- I cannot seem to transmit via RF from APRSIS32 to the FTM-500. The packets fall onto the floor as they say.
- Similar when I connect the FTM-500 to my PC and use Processing (processing.org) to open up a serial connection - I can stream data in but not transmit. This doesn't surprise me too much as I suspect that the write handshake is not being handled correctly by the Processing Serial object, but I need to investigate this more. Also I assume but need to verify that the oddball way that the FTM-500 formats APRS messages is involved as well.

Fairly sure that I'm formatting packets correctly from APRSIS32. Not looking for deep dive help necessarily, but curious if others know whether this is possible (and/or with earlier radios in the FTM family).

No, and not really interested in that approach. But thanks.

I vaguely recall reading about that, somewhat curious if others have found a clever way around this.?

If I recall correctly Yeasu doesn't allow access to the TNC for transmit from APRSISCE.

For informational purposes only, APRSISDR became APRSISMO, and the Testhost link is the Dev Version of APRSISMO and is the most recent version of that.

Lynn was working toward a cross platform mobile version, I know it works on Android, but I'm not sure about others.
