Re: KPC3+ Setup

Matthew,

Why not try a DRA-30 from MastersCommunications and use it with the Soundmodem program (free at UZ7HO - also get the PTT.DLL Zip). You'll find this set up decodes a bit better than the KPCs. You're also set to try Vara FM by adding the Vara FM program. Just a thought from a satisfied user of DRA modules.

Re: Release notes for latest Dev version release of 5 September?

BTW Lynn,

Some sort of History file that shows what changed in each Development Version would be extremely useful and it would also stop complainers from complaining. Hi hi hi!!!

The only detailed history I can find in the Wikidot is a file called Release notes but it is for APRSIS32 dated 1st May 2020. It is now 2024 and we really need some information of what has changed during the past 4 years!

Adam is 100% correct.?? I discovered that I borked the Configure / Objects menu when adding the FT8 and JS8Call options that I inadvertently removed the QRU-supporting options.?? They've been restored to visibility.

If yes where can we find it? I checked but I couldn't find anything at the Wikidot.
Any link would be of great help.

Yes, it's running on the com port. So far so good! Thanks!

Re: Working offline

And if you are only annoyed by the scroller, you can go to >Configure >Scroller >RF Only and only stations heard over RF will be in that area.
That is my preferred method of viewing the map
?* Map shows all area stations for RF and IF
?* Scroller only shows RF (with DIGI)

Although recently my settings have been >View Symbols >Flight for tracking balloons and other flying objects (no UFOs yet).? Of course they much have a symbol that is defined in the XML as "Flight".

Sure, just uncheck Enables / APRS-IS Enabled which will allow other Internet activities (like map downloading), but will not connect to the APRS-IS servers so the only APRS traffic you'll see must have come from RF.?? Of course, you won't be acting as an IGate either.

Or if it's just the visual you're after, check and confirm (if necessary) View / None (this turns off any specific selections you may have) and then check View / RF / All.?? That window will then only show stations that have been received via RF and still allow your instance to act as an IGate.

Of course, if by "not have an internet connection", you actually mean having NO Internet connection, then you'll be wanting to pre-download maps for your area of interest and then simply unplug the Internet or uncheck Enables / Internet Access which tells APRSIS32 to not use the Internet for anything.?? Of course, either of these options also means that you're no longer acting as an IGate either.

Under Windows, I think you need to use the paired COMM port and make sure you have the D74 BT connection locked into KISS mode.?? Use Simply(KISS) on APRSIS32 because the D74's TNC is different than earlier Kenwood APRS radios.

There are no Google Map options. Check the wiki.

And would I download something like a google maps app or something and from there how would aprsis access that??

Thanks for the help everyone! I'll see if I can configure it! I haven't used this program in over 5 years and just felt like getting back into it. I'd like to be able to go between being online and using it as an iGate and working offline and just get "local" locations and perhaps send messages through it.?

Re: Working offline

I recommend also disabling "purging" function. That removes map pieces after time.

Best regards,
Fred
