Only the instance that matches the -SSID will issue the ack.?? The option does exactly what it says and nothing more.? It enables "reception" and "display", but not acking.

It seems as if the only ack should come from the device with the correct SSID, but this isn't clear.

Even spoken conversations wander to different topics, it's human nature. "Hijacking" implies an intentional taking over someone else's thread. Maybe the admins should take a more active role. But then threads are free. If one gets out of hand just start a new one.?

There are 2 main reasons for starting a new topic, rather than posting new question inside old topics:
1. It is much easier to scan subjects when doing a search for something your "need to know"
2. The BEST users who give advice may have stopped following the current subject before you post a new topic within it.

To me, the second point is most important!

If you have Development enabled in your APRSIS32.xml file, you should see it in About.

Where is the release?

Development Release (2024/04/12 11:49)

Lynn Deffenbaugh

There's a new Development Release that contains a work-around for APRS messaging clients that don't properly support acking messages (like the new IRC 'bot).

With this version, if you see a message like:

ackXX - Bogus (non)ReplyAck
in a chat window, it means that the remote system dropped the required } from their ack message.?? APRSIS32 will now accept this, provided that the XX is expected, and will go on with the next message to that system.? Whenever you see this, please notify the remote system owner that they should read:

Or drop a message here with the station you were chatting with and I'll try to follow up with the author/implementer of the remote client.

There's also a plug-in for Home Assistant that pulls the same UDP data into HA for display and use by automations.

Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ - Author of APRSISCE for Windows Mobile and Win32

The Tempest sounds like a winner to me. I appreciate the info provided in this discussion. There's a gentleman north of my home QTH that has at Tempest and was asking me about how to get data from it in order to send out a weather beacon (via connected packet in his case). After reading this I'm tempted to order one myself.

Re: feature request

Hey Lynn,?

I have used the who-is lookup which is very useful but when I'm at the computer I tend to still go to their QRZ page to see if they've posted more information in their bio. Plus, I have refrained from using it too just to not create more network congestion with more messages because I use?RF too.

And just to be clear I'm not asking for an integration or api option just a link. You would either see data or not in your browser based on your own QRZ logon outside of APRSIS32. If I were to get fancy maybe it would only be visible if "internet access" is enabled.

just a thought.?

John, I could be wrong, but if you have PTT enabled by CAT, then you don't need a com port. Vice versa, if you have PTT enabled by a com port, then don't select CAT. And you might double-check the audio settings. I'm not at all familiar with the FT-991A, but they don't look right to me.
