Re: Open Source
JeffH - W4JEW - APRS Foundation
Paul,
?
I am speechless - thank you so much for choosing to host your father's source code on the APRS Foundation's GitHub page.?
?
Your father was one of the finest people I have ever met, and I'm glad to have spent the time with him that I did. I learned more about APRS from him than anyone else, and I learned so much about looking at things from another perspective that I will never forget.
?
Plus - I am so happy to have finally met you! You're a chip off the old block! And I mean that in the most sincere way that I can express.
?
For anyone looking for discrete links to each of the repositories, they are as follows:

And to everyone who's had the wonderful experience of using Lynn's contributions to ham radio - I hope you continue to enjoy using them as much as I do.
?
Best Regards and 73,

Re: Open Source
I have not?uploaded a collection of 6 additional folders of source code.? I am not sure if what I have uploaded is the correct source code.? If someone looks and thinks that what is uploaded is incorrect, let me know, and I can look further into uploading more source code. Open Source
I have just opensourced?the following software: APRSISCE (APRSIS32) APRSISMO APRSISDR My father's wishes were to do this upon his passing.? He did not want any of his software to go commercial use, so I have added a GPL license to the source code.? I have published on the APRS Foundation github which will ensure a very long life to the administration of the access to the source code.? I plan to continue to act as keeper of the source code, so please reach out to me if you are wanting to work on the software, but it is here for you to work on in keeping with the license. Re: HF APRS Time Lapse Video -- Timeout Setting?
I can find no instance of Lynn mentioning an upper limit to the values. One message notes that someone used 1440 as the stations.maxage which is 24 hours. Lynn noted many times that setting the value to zero would equate?to never timing out, so the upper value limit would be 0, which equates to infinity. Re: HF APRS Time Lapse Video -- Timeout Setting?
Thanks for the update Glen. Didn't realize the .safe file had to be edited as well. Tony, Notice how Glen's and Mine are different times? I made some adjustments to mine for reasons that I don't remember right now, but if you update those numbers to larger minutes it should resolve what you're looking for. That being said, I vaguely remember there being an upper limit to those, but I can't remember what it is right now.? ---- 73s Adam Mahnke KC2ANT

It is a neat video, Tony.

The setting(s) that Adam displayed are the ones to be edited. However, there are TWO files to?
be altered. With the client program closed, edit each and save. These are those
Again, editing will ONLY BE SAVED WHILE THE CLIENT IS CLOSED. Otherwise, those xml files will
be overwritten.

Adam:
Thanks for the info. I ran another timelapse and noticed that if a station isn't heard from after 30 minutes, it's removed from the map. It's remains in the station list for up to 2 hours before it's removed from the list. If a packet is received from that station before the 2-hour limit, the process above starts all over again. At least that's what appears to?be happening when viewing the time-lapse.?
I've attached a few screenshots to illustrate the time out sequence. Notice how the highlight color in the station list changes from white to Yellow after 15 minutes and then Red after 30 minutes.?

Neat time-lapse video.
I believe this has to be done via editing the xml file. I can't seem to find a menu item for it. Someone else may know where it is.?
<Stations.MinAge>80</Stations.MinAge>
<Stations.MaxAge>120</Stations.MaxAge> I believe those numbers are in minutes.

HF APRS Time Lapse Video -- Timeout Setting?

All:?
I recently recorded a time lapse video showing APRS-VARA activity on the 30-meter band (see below). The condensed video is only a few minutes long, but the actual recording time was approximately 8 hours. When I played it back, I noticed that stations would
periodically disappear from the map over a certain amount of time and some would then reappear.?
My guess is that this is due to the time-out feature, which assumes a station is no longer active if no packets are heard over a given time period. It's obviously a useful feature, but I was wondering if the timeout can be modified for demonstration purposes
i.e., video demos???
