Re: IGATE not forwarding to RF

Sorry Dexter but I am not familiar with any of that equipment, the droid element proves part of it is working.
If you have made no changes to radio the program and other hooked up equipment, apart from a reboot of the equipment check the hook ups are ok and if you have any spares swap them out, Windows has been issuing?some dodgy updates lately in both Win 11 and win 10 and I had to use the roll back to a previous time to get one of my programs?working again, mainly a USB issue

Try that and hopefully Rob KB8RCO who will no doubt read this later may offer better help, if it turns out to be my suggestion take the knobs of your laptop and put a lock on Windows updates, check the update history and see if one was new at the start of this

Hope that is of some help

Re: IGATE not forwarding to RF

Good morning Dexter,

I believe that you got the Why message on the APRS forum. If you take a look at this link it will help you figure out how to make APRSISCE a digipeater. Reach out if you need more assistance

Editing the XML must be done with the application Closed or it will not take effect as closing the application overwrites the xml file with those settings.

My home iGate/Digi is set up as a WIDE1-1 Digi and works for digi, and message traffic as I believe you are attempting to accomplish.

Re: Windows Phone Running 8.1

As Steve pointed out, APRSISCE is not Windows 8.1 compatible.
?
As I recall from being an old timer in this (the old Yahoo) group, the original code was written for Windows CE (hence the group name).
Later Lynn was able to cross compile it for Windows Mobile devices.? This continued to work through Windows Mobile 6.5.
Windows 8.1 was a major change that it was incompatible with the code.
?
FYI - somewhere lurking in the system there is some code that was written other mobile devices.??I have it running on an Andriod tablet.
I think Lynn called it "TestHost" or "Hydra" (or something like that) where Lynn used the LUA language for a lot of it.
? or search Groups.IO for APRSISMO
? I think compatibility issues with Android changes made this difficult to maintain.

Paul,
?
My condolences to you and the family. Despite only knowing Lynn through his contribution to radio hobby, I can say was an engaging, enthusiastic innovator and a steady guide with his knowledge and experience. I lost my dad when he was just 61 in 2019, so I have a sense of the loss you are beginning to experience. May he always be remembered and await our reunion just around the bend.

Re: Windows Phone Running 8.1

I don't know anything about Windows Phone 8.1 as I have never used a Windows phone or any phone for that matter in?
the use of APRSISCE.?
My only Windows experience is the use of this program on a Windows PC and usually the program works just fine on?
later versions of Windows (That is my own experience).

Have you tried installing APRSISCE to your phone?
A little more information may help others if I cannot help!

Please also include your callsign with a post, we can often work out the problem with that one piece of?
important information.

Hi Paul,
I am so sorry that you lost your Dad.? I was really shocked to learn of this. I wanted to thank you for sharing your Dad with us all.? He created an amazing piece of software and a really nice community.? ?My son and the scouts in his troop really enjoyed learning about APRS using the software that your Dad developed.? We had many great adventures and memories with this program over many years in the outdoors.? I hope that someone will keep this legacy in your Dad's memory going as it is a really wonderful tool and community that he created and shared freely with all of us over so many years.? What a gift.? Our family will keep him and you and your family in our prayers this Christmas.??

Subject: [APRS] Special Announcement - please read - #APRSTHURSDAY Net Reminder 05-DEC-2024
To: [email protected] <[email protected]>

This week’s and next week’s #APRSTHURSDAY net will be dedicated to Lynn Deffenbaugh, KJ4ERJ, who became a silent key this week.?

Lynn was the author of the APRSISCE/32 application and was truly an APRS expert. I got to know Lynn casually through the weekly #APRSTHURSDAY net. Way back in the net’s very early days I remember emailing Lynn and asking him if he minded if Cody, K7YXG, myself, and a few others “experimented” with his Announcement Server (ANSRVR) in hopes that we might be able to try the idea of a weekly APRS net. Over time, and with Lynn’s willingness to always help, that “experiment” became a weekly net that now sees over 500 operators some weeks.??

None of this would have been possible without Lynn’s help and support along the way.??

I remember one week ANSRVR was down and Lynn, while on vacation, temporarily ran the service on his laptop from his hotel room just so we could have the net. Let's all take a moment to thank Lynn with an APRS message in his honor this week during the net. None of this would have ever been possible without his help.???

WHAT: #APRSTHURSDAY net?

WHEN: 05-DEC-2024 00:00 - 23:59 UTC

WHERE: APRS

HOW: Destination Station = ANSRVR?

HOW: Message body = CQ [space] HOTG [space] 73 Lynn. Rest easy and thank you for everything.

When checking into the net, please disable any automated responses your APRS client may be configured to send after receiving a message. Excessive and unnecessary network traffic can result from Auto Answer APRS messages. On the PinPoint application, the function can be turned off by going to Tools/Options/Misc and unchecking "Auto Answer APRS Messages."?

To check in:

1) There are two (see A and B) ways to check in as an "in and out" that will limit unnecessary traffic after your check-in.

A) Station: ANSRVR.? Message body: CQ HOTG followed by your check-in message of choice.? Once you receive your ACK from ANSRVR send the following follow-up message to ANSRVR: U HOTG. This will "Unjoin'' your station and prevent additional traffic from being routed to you and eliminate unnecessary traffic on the system.

B) Station: APRSPH. Message body: HOTG followed by your check-in message of choice.? Note the absence of the CQ. This will log your check-in on the APRSPH system only. Your check-in will be counted and included in the summary but will not be broadcast by ANSRVR.

2) For stations wishing to monitor the check-in traffic from other stations, continue to check in as you always have.? Station: ANSRVR.? Message body: CQ HOTG followed by your message of choice.? WE ASK HOWEVER when you are done monitoring, PLEASE send the following command to ANSRVR.? U HOTG.
