Re: APRS iGate stopped working!
I should have mentioned, click anywhere outside the scroller to release it. On Wed, Apr 24, 2024 at 11:34?AM Ben Miller via <bmilleng=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: APRS iGate stopped working!
The scroller will turn red if you have "Freeze on click" configured, and you click on the scroller. No incoming messages wil display. On Wed, Apr 24, 2024 at 10:11?AM Rob Giuliano via <kb8rco=[email protected]> wrote: Not sure how to answer this with so little information. |
Re: APRS iGate stopped working!
Not sure how to answer this with so little information.
I am pretty sure the RED on the far left is because you are zoomed in to "maximum".??As you zoom out, the color will change. ? ?The reason only 2 objects are on screen and no map detail?is also because of how "zoomed in" you are. ? ?So from your comments, I would guess the screen was zoomed in by accident. ? ?The next logical question would be what else changed "unexpectedly". Why do you think your IGATE isn't working? ? ?Is the scroller working? ------- Robert Giuliano KB8RCO |
APRS iGate stopped working!
What the???? My iGate which was processing nicely virtually all the APRS traffic in our rural area for many monts seemingly just stopped working.? I checked my radio, correct frequency, etc. and checked my cables.? Nothing seems wrong.? I took a quick look at the APRSIS32 screen and saw a few odd things.? One is that the bar on the left side of the screen is red.? Not sure that is right.? Also, there are two objects on the screen, both of which are me.? One is ME which I believe is AB9NN-48, my base station igate and is centered on the screen. The other is AB9NN? which is NW of center.? That is my callsign.? Why would there be two objects showing up?? I know it's not processing any APRS packets because I just drove my mobile multiple times and it always proceesses them even though there is another digipeter in the area.? That digipeater doesn't have the footprint that I do and I process 99.99% of the APRS traffic in the area when my iGate is working.
What steps should I take to resolve this?? I also did a test transmission to a repeater across Lake Michigan to ensure it wasn't the coax or the antenna and I was able to raise the repeater with an S10 signal returned. Thanks! |
Re: Passcode
I have sent you a second copy to the email. I cannot send it through the group or everyone? will know your passcode, try using an address other than if you still do not receive it! ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýOnly the instance that matches the -SSID will issue the ack.??
The option does exactly what it says and nothing more.? It enables
"reception" and "display", but not acking. Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ - Author of APRSISCE

Configuration option for messages
In Configure -> Messages? there is the option " My Messages".? The online manual says
?
My Messages
Selecting this option will enable reception and display of any message addressed to your callsign regardless of the SSID the message is sent to.
?
Let's suppose I have two APRSIS32 computers, but different SSIDs.? Do they BOTH ACK a message only sent to one of the devices regardless of the SSID of the message???
?
It seems as if the only ack should come from the device with the correct SSID, but this isn't clear.
?
Thanks, Arnold

Re: Advice on "hijacking topics"

Even spoken conversations wander to different topics, it's human nature. "Hijacking" implies an intentional taking over someone else's thread. Maybe the admins should take a more active role. But then threads are free. If one gets out of hand just start a new one.?

It may not be 100% accurate for this forum, but provides a reminder of creating new topics. It's not your fault; most definitely, the "common" practice has become to respond with new questions, even if not on topic.? The recommendation is more for your benefit, as often I will skim by a topic that I no longer have an interest in following.? Starting a new topic would cause people like me to read the post and decide to comment if they have something to add.WELL SAID! ?I tell users on my groups.io forums the same thing. There are 2 main reasons for starting a new topic, rather than posting new question inside old topics: 1. It is much easier to scan subjects when doing a search for something your "need to know" 2. The BEST users who give advice may have stopped following the current subject before you post a new topic within it. To me, the second point is most important! ------- Robert Giuliano KB8RCO |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThat is correct, but IIRC, it only checks every 12 hours or so, so that can be a long time to wait.?? About will show you whether you are a) running Development or Release, and b) if a new version is available on that channel. Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ - Author of APRSISCE
