I think you nailed it. I went to E-bay and searched for "Craftsman head stock" and I saw several similar 'head stocks' for the larger lathes. Thanks a lot! ?Higher speed would be for wood or brass -

Yes, I agree. Looks like the head for turning wood. It should work for metal, just gonna turn fast. U have a good start for getting your 109 up & running. I¡¯ve looked on eBay, there r a lot of parts
