Well I bought one complete for $50 and another for $150 and I experimented with using them and found that improvements to the headstock and spindle are necessary to do serious work of the lightest kind. It is far too easy to bend the standard spindle and the upgrade improvement eliminates the Morse taper. Got about half way into reengineering the headstock with a needle bearing front bearing to take lateral loads and a deep row ball bearing at the rear taking the axial loads. Gave up on the project after realizing that I had a mint 618!
