You might try gluing/ screwing a metal corner angle onto top and side of door over the hinge hole area to keep it from being able to sag . Then drill a hole through it at the hinge hole. Also gluing/

What do you attach the tether to? I¡¯ve resorted to wedging some stuff against the door to keep it closed and that generally works. And I peek inside at every stop to make sure everything is secure.
