New Years Resolution enacted!

John R. Page

After pouring over the wisdom of this very helpful forum, and viewing
the local Harbor Freight unit plus Frank Hoose's melt-down motor,
I have ordered Grizzly's G1010 out of Bellingham, WA. It's due in my
driveway Tuesday, Jan 5th. Who_uah!

Various workbooks of mods and tips from [4x6Bandsaw] are printed out,
punched, and waiting as a substantial collection of pages in a loose-
leaf binder. Thank you all for your generous and able assistance.

Come on over and visit with our [9x20Lathe] YahooGroup sometime. At
least one individual rated us the best forum on Yahoo. I'd say
[4x6Bandsaw] also scores very high in the 'real help' vs. 'noise'
categories. Again, thanks a bunch.

Check your local farm stores for the Clarke brand $169.00, has cast
brackets, and the head casting looks to be heavier than HF and
others, Also has shelf in the base.

The HF which I have has cast alum. arms, which are very poor in my
opinion.

Even Cheaper saws??

I ran into a person that was running a small store with all kinds
of, well, call them 4 by 6 bandsaw assemblies, and other machining
items (lots of others!). Problem is, it closed up before I could
come back with my paycheck and buy out the place. Only thing I
could figure out was this was the result of some shipping damage /
insurance salvage deal.

Now, does anyone have any idea as to just how I could find
another place like that? Or get on the buyer's list? or whatever?
Anyone?

Homier Saw Ad

bkfan2001

Hi Guys,

new to the club and am anxious to get me a 4x6 and get started
cutting some metal. I tried to print out the Homier ad in the files
section, I am planning on dropping by the Harbor Freight store in
Memphis, Tn in a couple of days, and would like to show them the ad
to get the reduced price. Anyway, getting back to my question, when
I first try to open the file my monitor flickers madly for a couple
of seconds then the file opens but what is on the screen is a
jumbled mess of words. No pictures and a lot of missing text. Am I
doing something wrong?? Please help if possible as I would really
like to take advantage of this offer. Thanks a lot and

A MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!!

Regards

BK

Re: Harbor Freight

John,William has a good idea here. I did the same when I bought my
Mini-mill from Harbor Freight. I brought a copy of the Homier ad from
their website with me when I went to Harbor Freight. They matched the
Homier price which was $100 cheaper without even blinking an eye.
There must be quite a bit of leeway for the store manager price wise.
Never hurts to try to bargain with them. Money saved towards some
needed tooling. Good luck Rich W.

John,

The item number for the Harbor Freight bandsaw is 37151. If you
purchase it directly from a Harbor freight store the cost is $149.99
(at least it was last week) I just checked Harbor Freights web site
and the lowest price appears to be $169.99. Hope this helps,

Pat

Just saying ...Hi, Thank You and Merry Christmas

Hi All,
I have owned the little Emco Unimat lathe since around 1976 with all
the available accessories and have pushed this little gem of a
machine to it's limits and produced IMO so really neat parts over
the years. I had drooled over a 3 in 1 machine (Shoptask Eldorado)
for about twenty years and this year after building my new workshop,
finally decided to place the order ¡.Then, I joined the 9x20
Lathe
list and the folks there put up some very solid arguments against
the 3 in 1 and expounded the merits of investing in separate
machines. I heeded this advice and purchased the Grizzly G4000 Lathe
in April (and fully tooled-up and modified the thing .....see my
pics)

27+Grizzly+G4000+CBX+DRO&.src=gr&.order=&.view=t&.done=http%
3a//briefcase.yahoo.com/

Immediately thereafter, I purchased the Grizzly G8689 Mini-Mill
(again, fully tooled-up and accessorized) see pics

27+Mini+Mill&.src=gr&.order=&.view=t&.done=http%
3a//briefcase.yahoo.com/

The advice given by the fine and knowledgeable folks on this list is
absolutely invaluable and I have ended up with quality machinery,
quality education and 24-7 on-line support ¡.all, far superior to
what I had envisioned drooling over the 3 in 1 for the last 20-
years. My only regret is that I had nor done all this sooner.

I also purchased a 4x6 Metal Cutting Horizontal Bandsaw (again fully
decked out and modified ¡see my pics)

27+Bandsaw+Mods&.src=gr&.order=&.view=t&.done=http%
3a//briefcase.yahoo.com/

I wish to thank the Moderator and all the fine people on this list
for their help, feedback, criticism and dedication and to wish all
a very Merry Christmas and a Bright and Prosperous New Year. I look
forward to reading and contributing to future posts on this list.

Happy Holidays, Cletus 9Z4CLB
