Here are more pictures.? The steel bar is what I was going to use to fab a different style mount...like the one in the first photo.

And once they get approved...here:

braze it

Any welding forum has a statement that is used all the time.? Cast iron breaks and if welded it will break again.? Build it from iron and go to bed knowing it will work tomorrow!

It appears there is a plate that attaches to the motor, and a plate that attaches to the saw by two large bolts.? Then it appears that are 4 bolts that attach the two plates together.

The plate that attaches to the saw is what broke...and it broke by one of the large bolts.? It cracked and broke apart.

I saw that some similar saws had a different type of mount.? A solid square piece of metal that looks like 1 inch square.? I found a 1 inch by 1 inch square tubing I have we really thick walls.? I also have some thick sheet metal I can weld to the ends of the tubing to create this type of mount.

So far this is the only solution I have.? Does anyone have any other advice or different solution?? Is this a good solution?? Any advice I should be aware of in regards to this solution?? Can I buy a replacement mount somewhere?

Thanks In Advance

Here is a picture of an older saw.? It is the design I am going to try to use to fab a new motor mount.? This one only has a bolt on one side....the right.? Mine will have one on each side.

Send a pic. I bet it would be easier, and stronger, to fabricate one.
You need nickel rod to weld cast iron, and it does not weld like steel.
Preheat is important, and stress relieving as it cools is a good idea too.

Preheat to 500F, then weld with the appropriate filler rod/material you are using.

? Dunno why my text was deleted - I asked if you know any welders , and offered to repair it if you want to send it to me with return postage .

? Snag

Re: Broken Motor Mount - Need Help/Advice

Ok...I have never welded cast iron before.? Also I don't have a mill.? But I will still post some pictures.

Re: Broken Motor Mount - Need Help/Advice

I have re-weld cast iron before and that's why I would like to see pictures.? You have to clean it up on a mill but might be an option.
