Yahoo Groups service announcement
5
Hi ZICG, ZICG is run through Yahoo Groups. We've been with Yahoo since May 2000. Yahoo made an announcement a few days ago that they were pulling back a lot of the Group features. https://help.yahoo.com/kb/groups/SLN31010.html "Yahoo has made the decision to no longer allow users to upload content to the Yahoo Groups site. Beginning October 28 you won't be able to upload any more content to the site, and as of December 14 all previously posted content on the site will be permanently removed. You'll have until that date to save anything you've uploaded." What does that mean for ZICG? I'll backup the Yahoo archives before they are deleted, but we can still post to the ZICG list after the December deadline. In other words, not an emergency, but a huge nuisance. I will look around for free or cheap alternatives. If anyone knows of some options, please email me directly. Regards, Michael Moffatt. ZICG Admin

Contax/Kiev II CLA in Canada, Toronto

Anyone still alive and in business who can do proper CLA on Contax/Kiev II in Toronto GTA area ?? Thanks so much!

Introduction
Hello everybody, thank you so much to accept my request to be part of this very special and exclusive club. First of all, I'm a ZI collector, but not only, whatever is part of the Zeiss universe is part of my interests, speaking about all the trademarks before the merging and a little bit of what happen after the IIWW. Yes, I have to confess that there are 3 pets who share their lives whit my family: 2 cats, Pegasus and Minù, and 1 dog, Kira, so I would be happy to share with you my experience about them also. Told that, since my very first camera in 1976, a nice present by a family friend, a Polaroid, then I had the chance to choose my first 35mm camera which was a Yashica FR I, fantastic, affordable and well built camera, while the first camera which reached my shelf was a Contina I, belonged to a relative, followed by a Bencini Comet III, belonged to my grandfather. At the time, Believe me or not, I never thought about starting a camera collection, but wow, 280 cameras after, i could say that finally I've got it!

Different models of Ikonta 521?
5
I have two Ikonta 521s There are subtle differences between them: Serial # *90991N - The bellows/lens assembly extends with one button on top of the camera and the viewfinder pops up with a separate button on the side of the base of the viewfinder. Serial # N21239 - Both the bellows/lens assembly and the viewfinder are deployed with the same button on top of the camera. Can someone point me in the right direction to research this? I find it both odd and interesting. I assume (and we know how that can play out) that the second camera I listyed was manufactured later than the first, with that small efficiency added.

533/16 shutter operation
3
It seems I remember there is a trick to get the shutter on a 533/16 to work properly using the release ‘button’ on the body. I have 2 old ones that I am putting on EBAY and both can be tripped by flipping the release lever on the lens housing, but the release buttons on the body are not working. Anyone know the trick? (or do I have 2 cameras with bad linkages?)

IKOFLEX with 5 digit serial number
2
I am interested in purchasing an IKOFLEX. The seller did not post a model number. It has a 75mm 3.5 OPTON/TESSAR T. What is puzzling is that the lens serial number has only 5 digits 21499. Does anyone know what the model number is and what year produced? Also is the OPTON T appreciably better than my un coated TESSAR 75mm 3.5 on IKOFLEX ll/lll?

Serial number inconsistent with look and technical details of Contax IIa
5
https://flic.kr/p/Zj6wED Apparently, this is a late Contax IIa, identifiable by its colour dial. It has a colour dial with a yellow 50 and red numbers for the faster speeds on the exposure speed dial. It also has an electronic sync (i.e., PC sync terminal) rather than the mechanical plunger sync of the early, black dial bodies. It has the two small screws to the left and right of the rangefinder lookout window that are indicative of late versions of the Contax IIa. The screws that hold the front plate to the body are rounded and not countersunk, unlike those of the black dials that are smaller, flat and countersunk. However, the serial number that is engraved into the accessory shoe and also the camera body, when I take off the back, is T28612. According to Hans-Jürgen Kuc's authoritative work "Auf den Spuren der Contax, Band II" and numerous other sources (which in fact might all be traced back to Kuc's book and then would then not be independent sources), such as here state that T28001 through T35000 were manufactured from August 1951 through December 1951 and are definitely early, mechanical sync black dial versions. So in short, the serial number indicates an early model Contax IIa, while the camera clearly is a late model. Can anyone help me out on this?

Zeiss Bayonet Mount (additional information)
As I stated in my prior message, I need a Zeiss vintage bayonet mount. However, my ideal would be a 15cm Tessar in Compur shutter with the mount in place.

Zeiss vintage bayonet mount
I need a bayonet mount for an early large format Zeiss camera. The lens/shutter is fastened to this, which then mounts/dismounts quickly on the lens board. The lens board hardware is in place. The lens is a 15cm Tessar in Compur shutter. The camera is a 4X5 Tropica.
