Contarex Electronic

I have just joined this august group, although collecting Zeiss-Ikon cameras for more than 25 yrs, as well as many other brands. I believe my first was a very much user Contax IIA soon to be followed by a very much mint Super Ikonta IV. Many more through the years and my very latest is a late Contarex Electronic. I have acquired most of the specialized accessories for this camera; i.e.? Tele-Sensor, motor drive, battery grip, and Intervalometer Timer. I'm wondering if anyone would have a spare manual in English, or a more complete description of the usage of all these accessories. I really don't find I'd ever be using the timer but it would be nice to figure out how the other pieces are designed to work. I have seen a copy on line which describes the accessories in the manual, but without any number diagrams, it's pretty tough to figure out all the buttons and controls on the pieces. Was there a separate publication from Zeiss which describes these pieces in more depth? I know this was getting to the end of the company, so I don't know how much support was ever given to this camera system. It's a fascinating piece which seems to work flawlessly at this point and my only reason for acquiring all the other accessory pieces is like any collector,it's not done until it's done. I assume there are other members interested in the Contarex lineup, and I'm hoping for some answers or a bit of guidance with this past state of the art camera system.
Kindest Regards,
Gary Hill

ABOUT Yahoogroups

Yahoogroups is a free mailing list service. You can set your own email distribution list by going to or see information about the ZICG mailing list at

If you are a member of Yahoo AND you are a member of ZICG, you can view the archive of emails online as well as change your personal settings (such as digest mode etc). You may also view the subscription list.

ZICG used to be listed with Coollist. Poor reliability and even poorer customer service saw ZICG move in May 2000 to eGroups. William Lurie organised with nine other members to keep ZICG ad-free and paid eGroups a fee to drop all advertisements from emails. ZICG became ad-free from November 5, 2000. EGroups became a possession of Yahoo in December, 2000. Hence ZICG became a Yahoo group.

---
POSTING TO ZICG

The ZICG list was set up for people who want to discuss anything Zeiss. ZICG is a collection of Zeiss authorities and enthusiasts brought together through the medium of email to share knowledge as friends. Anybody can be a member and nobody has ever been banned.

You cannot send attachments. If you want to share a file, put it on a website and post the URL to the list. Remember that .vcf files (vcards) are classified as attachments. As a member, you can upload photos and files to the ZICG archives with Yahoo and then send notification to the list.

Please do not post HTML or specially formatted messages to the list. If you can, turn off these options on your email program. Some ZICG members cannot read your message if you send it in those formats.

Sale or Wanted adverts are acceptable on ZICG. All adverts must be about Zeiss equipment. You can post them at any time as a dealer or collector. Please do not abuse this policy, regulations will be set if members become dissatisfied with excessive sale/wanted adverts from the same individuals. It is acceptable to send an auction URL as long as it maintains a relevance to discussion on ZICG.

ZICG is run through Yahoo Groups. We've been with Yahoo since May 2000. Yahoo made an announcement a few days ago that they were pulling back a lot of the Group features.

Beginning October 28 you won't be able to upload any more content to the site, and as of December 14 all previously posted content on the site will be permanently removed. What does that mean for ZICG?

I'll backup the Yahoo archives before they are deleted, but we can still post to the ZICG list after the December deadline. In other words, not an emergency, but a huge nuisance. I will look around for free or cheap alternatives. If anyone knows of some options, please email me directly.

You'll have until that date to save anything you've uploaded."

Regards,
Michael Moffatt.
