Re: Newbie

Hi Alex: Thanks for the response. What a wealth of info. Much appreciated.
I am currently fooling around with a Contaflex SN X62164. Is there a data base for these as well?
Best,
John

Re: Newbie

Hey John,

Please go to files in the group and download the file?_ZI Productions Figures Article illus - Revised Jul 13, over there you can data the cameras with the ZI serial numbers.

Mine is from 1938!! When its clad I will share the history of the camera.
Enjoy!

Welcome John,

Same as John, a newbie here, I got a ikonta 521/16 rdy to clad, as well Im looking for the serials from ZI since the serial from the tessar is missing between years 37 and 38, and the compur-rapid doesn't show anything on the outside rings.

Thank you in advance,
Alex

The first one I have fooled around with seems to be in working order so I've loaded a roll of film and we'll see what happens.

The struts for the base are not jointed and do not fold in the middle. They are curved and the only hinge is on the base are hooked to a pin/button and it slides through a slot in the strut when closing and opening the camera.
I am attaching a photo for you to see what I have. Sorry it took so long to get back to you.

Hi Kim,

From your description I think that what you have is model 205, an ICA ¡°Ideal¡±. It seems to be the only one that has all the features you describe, and if the struts that support the baseboard are straight, and jointed to fold in the middle, this will confirm it, as most small plate ICAs of this age have fairly elaborate, curved, struts that do not fold but simply slide away when the camera is closed.

If this is not the case, is there any way you can upload a picture and I¡¯ll have another try.

Enjoy it anyway,

David

On the focusing there is no knob to slide the lens back and forth, I can only move the lens by sliding it using the silver bar across the lower front of the lens bracket area( for lack of better way to describe it).

OK, having looked more carefully at the 1922 catalogue, if it¡¯s purely a plate camera then it¡¯s not likely to be a Lola, as this is shown as a dual purpose rollfilm/plate camera. Also there is not a Volta listed in this size. Is it a double extension camera, and if not, how does it focus, with a rack and pinion or a radial lever?

Thank you for responding. The leather has no markings I can find and the strap is so cracked and brittle you can't make anything out on it. I even tried putting a piece of paper over it and rubbing a pencil across the paper no luck.

Hi Kim,

ICA cameras are usually identified by a two, three or four digit model number. If you can find such a number, stamped anywhere into the leather covering or the carrying strap, I may be able to help. The serial number suggests a manufacturing date of around 1921; a Lola should be marked 511, or a Volta 146.

Hope this helps,

David

Re: need help in finding out which camera I have

What do you mean by double extension camera? It focuses by sliding the lens back and forth on the rail. The rail goes to the end if the front/base and no further there is no extension rail. The back that is on it is just the focusing glass that slides off to allow another back to slide in on the grooves. The opening for the focusing glass is 3 1/4 x 4 3/4. There is a distance scale on the right-hand side of the base when the camera is open and you are looking straight on at the lens. The lens can be raised up on a rail or moved from side to side, there is a viewfinder on the lens board that folds down out of the way to close and store the camera.

I really appreciate all your help.

Thank you so much for taking time to help me.
Kim

need help in finding out which camera I have

Thank you for the add to the group. I collect antique cameras and actually shoot with them when I can find the film for them. I need some help with figuring out what camera a recent purchase is.

I recently purchased a ICA camera with serial # G23538 and the lens is Novar Inastigmat?1/6.8 Foc 13.5 cm No. 427273.

If anyone has any idea what this camera is or can put me in the right direction I would appreciate it. I think it is either an IC Lola or Volta but not sure. I am pretty sure it's a 3x4 plate camera just not sure which one.

Thanks in advance for any assistance in this.
Kim O.

OFFICIAL ZICG WEB PAGE

There is no external website for ZICG. Everything is contained within the Yahoo group page (). Many files have been shared (see the "Files" section) and the email archive is fully searchable.

An official ZICG web site used to exist at . It was created by Thomas Myro. It is well out of date but has some archives from 1997 on it. Nobody has used the classified section for some time now. It was a private web page, not a collectively produced one, which disappeared with the end of Geocities.
