Re: need help in finding out which camera I have

What do you mean by double extension camera? It focuses by sliding the lens back and forth on the rail. The rail goes to the end if the front/base and no further there is no extension rail. The back that is on it is just the focusing glass that slides off to allow another back to slide in on the grooves. The opening for the focusing glass is 3 1/4 x 4 3/4. There is a distance scale on the right-hand side of the base when the camera is open and you are looking straight on at the lens. The lens can be raised up on a rail or moved from side to side, there is a viewfinder on the lens board that folds down out of the way to close and store the camera.

I really appreciate all your help.

Thank you so much for taking time to help me.
Kim

OK, having looked more carefully at the 1922 catalogue, if it¡¯s purely a plate camera then it¡¯s not likely to be a Lola, as this is shown as a dual purpose rollfilm/plate camera. Also there is not a Volta listed in this size. Is it a double extension camera, and if not, how does it focus, with a rack and pinion or a radial lever?

Thank you for responding. The leather has no markings I can find and the strap is so cracked and brittle you can't make anything out on it. I even tried putting a piece of paper over it and rubbing a pencil across the paper no luck.

Hi Kim,
ICA cameras are usually identified by a two, three or four digit model number. If you can find such a number, stamped anywhere into the leather covering or the carrying strap, I may be able to help. The serial number suggests a manufacturing date of around 1921; a Lola should be marked 511, or a Volta 146.
Hope this helps,
David
