Anyone else having issues with this Rokuhan track piece? I find them to very touchy and then just deciding not to work. I took apart one and nothing. Should I drop in the Marklin uncoupler? With ballasting it won't be recognized. But would like to use the Rokuhan piece if possible. What am I doing wrong? I have 3 dead ones. It's draining my train budget. Who can fix them? Rob, Can Rokuhan fix them? I'm sure I can prove they were purchased within the last 12 months. Need help in Upland. Kian

AMERICAN Z LINE October 2021 New Releases Part 2 TODAY Z SCALE CHANGED – THE SW1500s ARE HERE! Since the inception of Z scale, US modelers have asked the question, when will a true switcher be commercially available? Today is the day. AZL is excited to announce the immediate release of SW1500s. Produced by EMD between 1966 and 1974, a total of 808 SW1500 switchers were produced. Over 60 railroads ordered these locomotives including the majority of the class 1 railroads. The SW1500 was rated at 1,500hp. While chiefly a freight locomotive, the SW1500s would see limited passenger service as well on the commuter railroads. Through the years, the locomotive would be passed on to a number of railroads and short-lines. The design and reliability of these locomotives comes through when you consider large numbers are still in use today, nearly 55 years after they were first released. AZL has elected to offer the Southern Pacific as the first release. The SP operated 204 of the SW1500s. They were by far the largest fleet owner of SW1500s. I am happy to see AZL release EMD SW1500 Switchers, but apparently it comes with this notice; "Note: AZL is advising customers not to attempt to remove the shells of the SW1500s. Doing so may result in damage to the locomotive’s shells." Anyone have any idea what the rest of the story is? Hard to imagine running these or any other z locos for a long time without lifting the shell to clean the inevitable dust and grime that accumulates or replace worn parts. AMERICAN Z LINE October 2021 New Releases Part 1 Union Pacific’s “City of San Francisco” Beginning in 1936, the Union Pacific began operations of the “City of San Francisco” passenger train. The train operated between Chicago, IL and Oakland, CA on the Overland Route. A ferry connection completed the service to San Francisco. The C&NW, Milwaukee Road, and Southern Pacific were co-owners in the train and contributed rolling stock to the roster. Starting in 1938, the lightweight passenger cars were introduced. Typical trains were 17 cars in length and could accommodate 222 passenger. These lightweight cars are represented in AZL’s set. The sets were powered by EMD locomotives and were cable of a speed of 110mph. This would allow the “City of San Francisco” to make the trip in 39 ? hours. This included 37 stops for the westbound trains and 38 stops on the eastbound trains. The “City of San Francisco” would continue operations until 1972 when Amtrak took over all long distance passenger route. AZL is offering two passenger sets. I was curious about the Atlas 'Rail Joiner Sidekick' to place rail joiner on to track rails. These are sold by Ztrack and, ModelTrainStuff (MB Klein) and Atlas in their Z categories. Not sold at Zscalemonster or ZscaleHobo and I understand why. It does not work on Atlas Z scale Rail Joiners or Rokuhan's. It does work on MTL's 990 40 909 (after you clip one 'tongue' off) The N stub on the tool has a thin rib down the middle. Atlas Z joiners, Rokuhan and M?rklin joiners are too wide so no grip at all. Micro-Trains rail, much closer to Code 55 has a narrower rali web (the vertical metal between the rail head and footer) so there joiners are too. Its always great when products are advertised as All-Scale and, sold in the Z section but no one there has tested it. I use a small Jeweler's screw driver, ground down to match the beveled rail footer and a slightly small taper from front to a stop point on the side. Hello, I'm building a compact Z Marklin layout with a loop of catenary. What is the recommendation for catenary feeder spacing? I have seen 1m and 1.5m, but that seems too far apart given the small contact area at the masts between catenary wire sections. I have a lot of track feeders. Thanks, Marty
