Rokuhan uncoupler track piece
#Track
Anyone else having issues with this Rokuhan track piece?
I find them to very touchy and then just deciding not to work. I took apart one and nothing. Should I drop in the Marklin uncoupler? With ballasting it won't be recognized. But would like to use the Rokuhan piece if possible. What am I doing wrong? I have 3 dead ones. It's draining my train budget. Who can fix them? Rob, Can Rokuhan fix them? I'm sure I can prove they were purchased within the last 12 months. Need help in Upland. Kian |

Re: AZL October 2021 New Releases Part 2
This is really excellent news ! First the availability of a Z scale switcher and above all the (nearly complete) compatibility? with MTL's magnematic coupler, as the first role of a switcher is to... switch, what AZL's coupler doesn't allow. However, I've a few questions today : -First, is there any indication of how how much lenght the MTL coupler box has to be trimmed ? BTW I already tried that with a few MTL coupler boxes in the past (for AZL GP38 and MTL GP9/35 use) and all ended the same : all the inside stuff, hinged parts and spring went off and the coupler box was wasted. -2nd : for MTL coupler box trimming : is it advisable to use a dremmel with a very thin disk, rather than the hobby knife the procedure sheet speaks about ? -And finally 3rd : will the adapter be sold as a spare part (for example at AZL Direct's) for use on any other AZL locomotive ? I'm thinking about my GP38-2s (only one is retrofitted - with non trimmed MTL coupler boxes which I definitly think they protrude too far) and above all about my GP30, which has rather short chassis / carbody beyond trucks... AMERICAN Z LINE October 2021 New Releases Part 2 ? TODAY Z SCALE CHANGED – THE SW1500s ARE HERE! ? Since the inception of Z scale, US modelers have asked the question, when will a true switcher be commercially available? Today is the day. AZL is excited to announce the immediate release of SW1500s. ? Produced by EMD between 1966 and 1974, a total of 808 SW1500 switchers were produced. Over 60 railroads ordered these locomotives including the majority of the class 1 railroads. The SW1500 was rated at 1,500hp. While chiefly a freight locomotive, the SW1500s would see limited passenger service as well on the commuter railroads. Through the years, the locomotive would be passed on to a number of railroads and short-lines. The design and reliability of these locomotives comes through when you consider large numbers are still in use today, nearly 55 years after they were first released. ? AZL has elected to offer the Southern Pacific as the first release. The SP operated 204 of the SW1500s. They were by far the largest fleet owner of SW1500s. Re: Why This Notice
开云体育This is a very different design and AZL definitely upped their details with this release. As of now, there are no DCC boards available for a sway. I am sure someone will come up with a design that works. Once we have instructions on how to safely remove the shell, we will post it.?Rob Follow us on Facebook!? Ztrack Magazine Ltd. Re: Why This Notice
开云体育AZL posted the following on their forum. I can contest, it is VERY easy to damage the shells while attempted to do so. I did just that in my own testing:The SW1500 shell can be removed; however, it requires a very different technique than our previous products. Until we can create detailed instructions we are advising people: DO NOT attempt disassembly. We destroyed more than a few shells before we discovered the correct technique. We don’t want the same thing to happen to our valued customers. Rob Follow us on Facebook!? Ztrack Magazine Ltd. Why This Notice
I am happy to see AZL release EMD SW1500 Switchers, but apparently it comes with this notice; "Note: AZL is advising customers not to attempt to remove the shells of the SW1500s. Doing so may result in damage to the locomotive’s shells."
Anyone have any idea what the rest of the story is?? Hard to imagine running these or any other z locos for a long time without lifting the shell to clean the inevitable dust and grime that accumulates or replace worn parts. Are really not to ever see the chassis of these switchers? REF:?https://www.zgauge.com/Southern-Pacific-EMD-SW1500-2615-p/62701-1.htm ? |

I have been using a home made tool using Bill Kronenbergers idea.
Take a small cheap screw driver. Cut a slot ine end and solder a small piece of zscale rail in the slot at an angle. Now slide a rail joiner onto that piece of rail and ues the toon to slide the rail joiner onto toe end of track. Saves on fingers, nails, and the many unattractive phrases used when the rail joiner jams onto tender fingers. Larry Donsbach San Antonio, |
I don't sell it because - one ... this is the first I've heard of it; the masses aren't exactly knocking my doors down for it! .... and - two ... even after reading your post i'm still completely clueless as to what this item does. ? doesn't a fine-tipped needle nose pliers + 1 hand install a joiner onto a rail? Or just two bare hands - one to hold the track section and another to push the joiner onto a rail? ??
