This is from Johnny HolmesThis was the message that Stephen posted on Facebook... It is with great regret that I report the death of my dear friend John Matthews. I have been one of his closest since 1989. John was in hospice after months and months of chronic pain. He decided to stop his medications and had Beaumont hospice take care of him for the remaining time, which was only 4 days. Please think of the good things about John, though I know he had many problems and faults. John had his ideas and goals in life, so sad that he affected so many who knew him, and had little effect on the many who didn't. Sent from AOL on Android

What is Next? ¨C Hello Everyone, We have journeyed 33% of the timeline and we are 36% funded. This is great!! Thanks to everyone that has cared enough about this preservation effort, and have taken the time to navigate the interface of Kickstarter in order to pledge. I cannot thank you enough!! Thanks also to everyone that has helped spread the word and get traffic to the Kickstarter page. A huge thanks to the loyal listeners of my weekly five hour radio show Hollywood 360 who are truly responding and have been overwhelmingly driving this funding effort. I opened a YouTube channel for you fans of old time radio. You will find videos relating to the Ziv series that are being worked on and some of my other projects. There will always be new content weekly. You can view the channel at Zivaudio.com/h360 ( http://zivaudio.com/h360 ) What¡¯s Next if we hit our funding goal on Bold Venture?? Take a listen for yourselves! https://youtu.be/n2sI5tG4sQw Looking forward is always a good thing but let's not take our eye off the project at hand. This preservation effort really needs everyone's help to make this current campaign happen. Every episode produced of Bold Venture in pristine quality sound. All 78 shows have the same great tones and clarity. This is the ultimate Bold Venture set to own. It could not be duplicated and has never even been close to complete in over 70 years. I urge those who are waiting and watching to please pledge today. If you need help with your pledge because the process on the computer is daunting, reach out to a friend or relative to help you. Kick Starter #3
One third of the journey is done... ¨C Hello everyone, Two weeks since the launch, we are 33% of the way to our funding goal. We have another four weeks to go with over 100 people who have pledged so far. The amazing news is most people are pledging an amount that will provide them all 78 Bold Venture episodes via digital download or on audio CDs. This includes the 18 lost Bold Venture episodes that have not been heard in 70+ years. And I promise you the sound quality of all 78 episodes will be pristine! We need an average of 4 new pledges per day. Although we¡¯ve averaged more than this per day so far, I think this is going to be difficult. If we are going to hit our funding goal and transfer these 78 Bold Venture episodes and save this series for generations to come, we will need more support. Can you please help spread the word? If you have not yet pledged, please consider doing so sooner rather than later. If you have pledged an amount that will not get you all 78 episodes, would you consider increasing your pledge so you do receive the complete run of Bold Venture? In order for this preservation effort to succeed, we will need the support of the old-time radio enthusiasts and hobbyists. To date, surprisingly, few of these people have made pledges, which is rather disappointing. These are the people who care about these radio shows the most but only a handful of the hobbyists found in the various Facebook groups have pledged so far. According to the analysis of the various links used for this Kickstarter campaign, the majority of the pledgers to date have been from listeners to my radio show, Hollywood 360. I thought that the OTR community would be rallying around a preservation effort like this since it is really a once in a lifetime opportunity to transfer the Ziv library of not only Bold Venture but Boston Blackie, I Was a Communist for the FBI, Mr. District Attorney, Philo Vance, Favorite Story, The Easy Aces and so many more from Ziv¡¯s personal un-played discs which have been in temperature-controlled storage and well-cared-for these many decades. How often is something as exciting as this going to come along in our hobby? We have access to Ziv¡¯s private collection of un-played discs to all of his radio shows! These discs have been sitting for 70+ years because no single person has had the money to professionally transfer them all (some 10,000+ discs in the Ziv library). That¡¯s why I took this on because I figured the OTR community would band together and (along with my radio audience) help me rescue these Ziv shows. Although we¡¯re off to a good start, we need at least 200 more pledges. If you¡¯ve been sitting on the fence waiting to see if this Kickstarter is going to happen, please make your pledge. Your pledge won¡¯t be processed unless we hit our goal so please act now. We can't get closer to the goal and see where the support REALLY stands, without having everyone that is truly interested, making a pledge. Tell your friends and help save Bold Venture and let¡¯s move on to the complete run of Boston Blackie and the other Ziv shows. Time will tell but if we don¡¯t make our funding goal, Bold Venture will unfortunately not be released, nor will the other Ziv shows and that would be a real shame and a lost opportunity for this great hobby. Thanks to all of you that have already pledged and show you care! Thanks in advance to all reading this update that will help the cause. No pledge is too small... or too large for that matter! Bold Venture shows from ZIV Productions 2
Hello to all you fans of nostalgic media out there! You are receiving this email because somewhere along the line, you have purchased some item or supported or thought about or joined, a group that is involved with or related to vintage audio. In particular, and to be specific, classic, golden-age radio programs. How many of you know the name Frederic W. Ziv? Uh-huh. And how many of you know the names Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall? I thought so. How many of you have heard of the Bold Venture radio program which starred Bogart and Bacall? Oh. Yes, that's right. They did, and it was an action / adventure series. They did 78 programs in total of the Bold Venture show. 18 of the programs have not been heard in the 70 years plus, since they were last broadcast over the airwaves. Bold Venture was a crown jewel in the collection of 41 different radio serials produced and owned by Frederic W. Ziv, king of all radio and television syndicators. Ziv's personal, private collection of over 10,000 transcription discs was recently licensed to Carl Amari. Amari, a long-time collector and rights licensee of old time radio programs, wants to preserve them for posterity as digital audio files and make them available for all to enjoy. There is a reason this collection has never been licensed before, it is an expensive proposition! Because it is so expensive, a Kickstarter is necessary. You can find the project at the following link: Ziv Audio This project goes livethis coming Saturday, September 23rd!! Please help make these programs publicly available by pledging any amount you feel comfortable with. No money is collected until the pledges equal or exceed the goal needed, and the 60 days elapse. If the goal is not reached in 60 days, nothing happens at all. The project dies like it never happened. No money is collected. No rewards are sent. If this Kickstarter succeeds, there will be future ones for other Ziv shows such as Boston Blackie, I Was a Communist for the FBI, Mr. District Attorney, Cisco Kid, and Favorite Story, just to name a few. Have a look at the pre-launch and make sure you go back when it is live on the 23rd of September!! The link again is Ziv Audio Here is the YUSA link. It currently goes to the pre-launch page but goes live on the 23rd. https://zivaudio.com/YUSA Please ask any questions you might have. We want this Kickstarter to succeed! Thank you so much for your time. Doug Hopkinson

Bob Hope collection
Hi Everybody, Many Bob Hope radio appearance from the mid 1930s has pop up. REPS will bid on them and that way the hobby can enjoy them once they are tranfered. Below is the link for support, Walden Transcription Disc Marketplace Auction Starting on September 16th 2023 Closing: September 30th, at 12:00 pm PST Hello Fellow Collectors, For the second auction of the year, we continue with the Electro-Vox Archive Collection. Now that I bought a reel-to-reel machine that can accommodate the large 15 ips 10¡± reels from the archive I have discovered many interesting and rare radio programs and excerpts from the Bob Hope material, both radio shows and private recordings. Most of these are at 7 ? IPS on large reels. There will be a small section of tapes made from Electro-Vox¡¯s old recordings of various radio programs. The good news is that all will have a $5.00 minimum. bid As there are no labels to picture so I¡¯ll instead post some audio clips on both Transcription Disc Marketplace and Radio Transcription Discs Groups in the next few days. Attention: About the condition of the tapes. I have personally gone through and made sure that they ran through my tape recorder. I had to repair many tape splices and was able to make a complete pass through the tape player. There was shedding, gummy tape heads and bad splices. And some damage to the beginnings or ends of tapes as they have print through from tape sticking together. Many cue-tips and head cleaner after almost every tape. But all in all, it was worth the effort. I cannot guarantee that splices will hold. Also, most of the recordings were stored on NAB cores and do not have reels. So that¡¯s the way you¡¯ll be receiving them. On the bright side, if you win shipping will be a lot cheaper without the reels. So, what you¡¯re buying are ¡°as¨Cis¡± and are not returnable. Did you know that if you have discs to sell you can use Transcription Disc Marketplace for that purpose? Or trading? Asking a question? Check it Out! If you don¡¯t know how to access Facebook¡. ask you kids. Attention: All emails, regular payments, and PayPal payments should go to the following email address: oxamoxa@... Minimum Bids: You will see the minimums listed at the very end of the description of the item. Make sure your bid reflects this or it will be dismissed. An example: Review the listing and decide that you are willing to make the minimum bid. Let¡¯s say the minimum bid is $5.00, you submit a bid of $20.00. If no one else bids on this disc, you would win the item if you met or surpassed the minimum bid price. If someone else bids $15.00, you will win it for $16.00 since your maximum bid exceeded that of the other person. (Bids are calculated in increments of one dollar over the last bid.) However, if a third bidder submits a maximum bid of $25.00, they will win the auction at $21.00 since their maximum bid exceeded your bid. In the case of a tie - for example, two persons submit a maximum bid of $20.00 on the same disc - the bid which was received first will win the disc. Unless noted, all discs are 16" in diameter unless otherwise noted, and only playable on equipment capable of accommodating discs of this size. Some discs are vertically recorded and you will need to adjust your system to accommodate this. All discs are in very good playable condition or better. Any specific defects are noted in the individual listings. To help you make better decisions on this list, I will be using the following grading chart, with all grading done visually: New = New minus - almost no surface wear and no other problems except maybe minor scuffs EXC = Excellent - light surface wear and minimal small scratches, perhaps a few more scuffs VG = Very Good - scratches, more scuffing, and needle wear, but still acceptable. G = Good - worn with a few needle digs, playable, needle wear very heavy, much more scuffing. Plus or minus after the grade is just telling you that the recording is either in better or poorer condition. All other grading notation will be listed after the grade. Example: (warped) We're sorry, but aside from the
