Re: Hello

I’m still here too.? I am not renovating anything right now, although I am waiting to hear back from a carpenter about installing custom bookshelves and I had my entire HVAC replaced the very beginning of the year (which was apparently a very easy process; Baird managed the whole thing and they were done in under 3 days, including replacing a bunch of ductwork).?

?

I’ve spent the last 6 months in the throes of college applications, but they and auditions are finally, as of last weekend, done.? So far we’ve only heard 1 ? “yeses” from schools, but it’s early days yet.? The half is because a lot of schools do artistic admits and academic separately, and one of her safety schools gave her an almost instant artistic admission.? She’s also been admitted to the Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts, and barring hating it (trying to get flights organized to take her to visit) or being admitted to a couple of the schools we’re still waiting to hear from, I expect I’m sending my kid to college in the UK next year.

?

Boys are still working on finding research jobs to help them get into grad school.?

?

Turns out mindless socks are a pretty great thing to take to auditions, so I’ve been knitting a lot of those.

?

Looking forward to moving in the spring/early summer and hopefully a successfully empty nest in the fall.

I'm here too.? I've been mostly trapped at home since the end of September as we had both full bathrooms in our house redone.? DH and his fellow engineers used to have a joke that for time estimates you needed to halve the number and increase the increment by one step, and that was about it. My 8 week project turned into 4 1/2 months, and still lacks a few finishing details.? The recent ice storm here has just added to the fun, as we lost a few big trees, and lots of other branches.

?

I am enjoying being a grandmother, thankful to have Tinybeans and Facetime since we are at a distance.? As we get closer to retirement we are starting to look at houses in Colorado (where Stephen grew up, and the grands and other family live).

?

Still knitting, mostly little things, and looking forward to a lot more travel going forward.

I'm here, and fine! Busy working (on and off, more than I'd like, why can't I just retire??), grandmothering, trying to keep the home place from disintegrating around us (or flooding, or burning). Thinking about getting old and making changes - but so far, just in the thinking stage.

?

What I haven't been doing much is knitting..for the first time in many years, I've gone weeks at a time lately without lifting knitting needles. Just thinking about swatching for a lightweight cardigan in some vintage Rowan 4-ply soft, though.

?

How about the rest of you? I know many of us run into each other on FB and Instagram now and then and feel somewhat connected that way - I'm always happy for those glimpses of what you're up to.
