Hello Yankee Rowers!
With the opening of the boathouse, comes one of our favorite rites of spring… the Spring Boathouse Cleanup!
For those of you who are new to the club, the spring cleanup has historically, been a fun, social way of ‘launching’ our season.
Covid has changed the rules for us somewhat in the past year, and this year we are going to abide by those changes again, and slightly downplay the social part of the ritual. But the FUN still remains, for our adventuresome souls who seek it!
Let’s make the dates for the cleanup begin on Weds. May 12, and continue to the 23rd, to allow for weather and schedules….
Below is a list of ’tasks’ that need to be done. We ask that members volunteer to take on a task, and then, after completing the task, sign off on the “ Master List” that will be by the log book (just initial it/check it off, whatever floats your boat
?).
To make the boat-washing more ‘user friendly’, the club boats have been divided up into 4 groups. Each group will require 2 people to volunteer (see - here’s the ’social’ part!) - ideally. Especially group ‘D’ with the Fluid Double.
There are some cleaning materials underneath the log book table - feel free to bring your own environmentally friendly cleaners.
1)? Wash Boats:
Group A: Maas #8
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Fluid Single
Group B: Maas #13
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Peinert #7
Group C: Peinert #6
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Peinert #9
Group D: Peinert #12
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? New Fluid Double
(If I missed any boats, Feel free to add them!
2) Clean Men’s Bathroom (sink, toilet, mirror)
3) Clean Women’s Bathroom ( Sink, toilet, mirror, shower )
4) Take home shower curtains, bath rugs to launder
5) Sweep (to get the crud up) & vacuum floors - excluding bathroom)
6) Sweep, vacuum and mop bathroom floors
7) Clean windows
Thank you all for participating! Hope to see you on the water soon!!

I'll join Anita in cleaning the windows (not necessarily at the same time)--we did it together last year and it seems like a job for two rather than just one. If that's not okay, just let me know and I'll take another task. Nancy

(The flow scale is on the righthand side of the graph.) ?Today, the ? river is right at 20 kcfs, and the Montague forecast (the URL above) ? suggests it will decline further during the week.
- Since the river is still pretty cold, try to row when the air is warm. ? Note that a typical guideline is that the combined water+air temperature is 100F.
- We are observing COVID precautions. ?I'm sure most of us are vaccinated, but ? we're still masking and social distancing around the boathouse and dock. ? Our stance as of the end of last year is recorded here: ? It's likely that we can relax the sanitizing requirements; stay tuned. ? We are working on plans to expand the boathouse with more rack space. In the meantime, limited outdoor rack space may be available. ?Please contact the Equipment Committee if you're interested:
And a gentle REMINDER: send in your 2021 dues, rack fee (if applicable), and waiver before you row. ?Forms are on:

Re: FW: Rowing Camp Spring 2021 Update
I second Jonathan's endorsement--though for their Head of the Charles camp in the summer. I did it a few years ago and even though the focus is on the HOCR course, what they're teaching is completely applicable to non-racing too.?

1.? If you or your club want to have our coaches come to you, please call or email Mark as soon as possible to arrange a camp at your location.? There are a few dates left...
2.? We are excited to be offering not one but two Head of the Charles camps in Boston this summer.? One is August 24-26 and the second is September 27-29.? 3.? The first week of October (1-6) will see a group of fortunate scullers heading to Aviz Portugal for an amazing week of sculling, dining, wining (NO whining) and exploring this fantastic country and rowing location.? Do Not hesitate to reach out and reserve your spot.

4. Coastal and Gig Rowing expands- We are going to be offering coastal specific camps in Florida during the winter 2022 season and also have a small camp planned for July 20-22ish for some fun on the upper Mississippi River in southern Wisconsin, details are still being developed but if you are interested in some point to point rowing in a Gig 4x or Coastal single on the Mighty Miss, just let Mark?know, It will be a BLAST for sure!!

Lastly, we are always expanding our private camp sessions in Florida for those with small to medium groups that want to visit us in the warmth of the Florida sun in January, Feb, March 2022.? Please consider scheduling early.
