开云体育It's time to start the rowing season! ?Of course, it's still spring in New England, so some cautions are in order: - Club boats may be rowed only when the river flow is below 20,000 cubic feet ? per second (20 kcfs). ?Here is the river flow chart we use: ? (The flow scale is on the righthand side of the graph.) ?Today, the ? river is right at 20 kcfs, and the Montague forecast (the URL above) ? suggests it will decline further during the week. - Since the river is still pretty cold, try to row when the air is warm. ? Note that a typical guideline is that the combined water+air temperature is 100F. - We are observing COVID precautions. ?I'm sure most of us are vaccinated, but ? we're still masking and social distancing around the boathouse and dock. ? Our stance as of the end of last year is recorded here: ? It's likely that we can relax the sanitizing requirements; stay tuned. ? Thank you all for compliance last season; I think everyone stayed healthy. Using a club boat will require a reservation, using the same system that was in place at the end of last year. ?Point your browser to to find the spreadsheet we use for signups. ?The first sheet in the file contains instructions. ?THE INSTRUCTIONS HAVE CHANGED SLIGHTLY SINCE LAST YEAR. The club now has a Fluid midweight double, which can be reserved on the "heavyweight boats" page of the reservation spreadsheet. ?Take it on a shake-down cruise! We are working on plans to expand the boathouse with more rack space. In the meantime, limited outdoor rack space may be available. ?Please contact the Equipment Committee if you're interested: Ernie Alleva (elaCS@...) Craig Schiff (zzooey@...) or Anne Teschner (ateschner@...) And a gentle REMINDER: send in your 2021 dues, rack fee (if applicable), and waiver before you row. ?Forms are on: Please let me know if you have any problems, unhappiness, or suggestions for doing better... And please be safe on and off the water. Bob Sproull ? ?rfsproull@... |
