I realize I am making a suggestion that I cannot actually do (because I don't have the skills, and because I am currently sidelined with a sore rib)--but at my last rowing club, we built a little roof over the outdoor racks to protect from UV rays, falling branches, hail, and the like. Buying lots of boat covers is far more expensive., as is letting the boats deteriorate.

? ? ? ? ? ? I used to think we needed a cover for every boat outside. But since the Green Peinert 25 will be under the Peinert 26 ( Blue ) it would not get much sun each day. Same for any boat beneath the covered Fluid Design Double. Our rack is pretty well protected except the topmost boats. Our Peinert 26 looks just fine, but yes, UVA and UVB do a job on hulls and human skin.

Covers for outside boats is a great reminder that the killer for these boats is UV. It eats and softens the resins, and eventually they crack.

? YRC members: ? ? ? ? ? We were thinking of moving the Green Peinert 25’. ( the? number 6,)? to the Outside rack. It is so high inside the boathouse it’s difficult to get down. On the Outside Rack it would be much lower and easier , plus we could put a private boat in its place.? ? ? ? ? ? ? Suggestions? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Craig
