Re: YRC Oars not being put away safely or properly-

Claire:
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Grab an index card on the desk, put your name down in Magic Marker, and post it at a comfortable peg height for your self? without pushing out someone else. Be real careful back there. You have two expensive Van Dusens above your head and the oars are so close. But yes, mark an index card and find a good place for yourself. Pins are to the left of the desk. Let me know if you are satisfied. If you want we can meet sometime, because that stack gets shifted around a lot. I'm not familiar as well with who Is and Isn't there now. But you should have a comfortable place, within easy reach.

Dear Craig,

Thanks for this, and I hope you weren't hurt. Here is a question: my private oars are on the left-hand rack and were moved to an upper peg. I moved them back to where they were last year, but there is no card with my name on it to say where they should go. If you tell me where I don't mind making the card. But I fear that I am always in someone's way at this point.

best,

Claire

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?The main oar-rack (back right) was a jumbled mess this morning. It looked like someone just threw the oars up on the rack without any consideration as to how they go back. When I went to put away my club oars down at the bottom, an oar from on top fell an hit me. This season, racking oars properly has become a real problem.?

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Racking the oars is pretty simple. Since these racks are very close vertically, and very short in length off the wall, if? you don't stack them in some kind of order they will fall and usually pull other oars with them.

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Here is how we order the oars in the YRC main oar-rack:

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?1)? Put them concave-face to concave-face. ( That would be the Opposite way of spoons in a drawer.)
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?2)? One pair of blades go to the left, the other pair goes to the right, the downside of the blades goes down.
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?3)? Offset the Buttons on the sleeves so you gain a little more room on the dowel.

????????????????????????????? ?Four of the six YRC levels had oars misplaced. I taped a card on each pair, and taped the oars together. Feel free to undo the taped oars and use them, but you will see how NOT to put away oars. I assume this is from carelessness and being oblivious to the boat house surroundings after rowing. Please be aware: you are in a sculling boathouse with delicate boats worth thousands of dollars all around you. These are not aluminum canoes or plastic kayaks. If you see someone doing it wrong, tell them and show them the proper way.? Please pay attention to what you are doing inside.
