Re: Hi / group activity
that's good... then I 'd first do a swap from another voice of your synth, since you already have confirmation of those that still work. Then, you'll know if buying another chip will for sure fix it. On Saturday, October 31, 2015 2:10 PM, "laurie laurie@... [yamahacs80]" wrote:

Since you say it affects the other banks voice, that is NOT a recommended, safe method. ?You risk doing some degree of damage. Granted, you could get lucky, but..... blind chip swapping isn't the scientific method. On Friday, October 30, 2015 10:34 AM, "david@... [yamahacs80]" wrote:

Re: Hi / group activity
Hi to Laurie laurie, ?I have a way to check voice cards , as well as the propietary chips without allowing excess current to pass through anything. It's just an idea, but if you wanted to send a card to check , that's a possibility. I'm in LA, and am the guy currently running the unison mod for diy'ers you might have seen. If nothing is truly damaged, or if you want, I can also repair whatever is wrong, using your spare parts if you prefer. Anyway, without me doing that, you probably don't want to continue slapping parts in the card until you know more about the failure. Have you done the usual sensory checks, i.e. test for hot parts, smell, etc ? Nothing visually obvious or fatigued ? Regards Tim On Friday, October 30, 2015 11:45 AM, "laurie laurie@... I have an issue with my CS80....? I did a upgrade to the newer VCO chips about 20 years ago... and ordered 2 M boards from overseas with what I believe is the original Chips.... I remember having to move a diode (or add one )right beside the chip.... my problem is, during spring, I realized osc 1 bank one was down... Filter still showed up with white noise and Eg worked but no Sine or Saw or Pulse was audible.... well the idiot I am, installed one of the other M board osc Chips in Backwards ( I know right? ) FFS....? any Idea what I may have damaged in the process? if I try the replacement chip in the correct way, it interferes with Bank 2 (same osc)... leaving it empty allos osc 1 bank 2 to work....? and worst, Im in Winnipeg Canada..... probably the only local CS80 here.... (rumours there was another... ) Any Wise sugestions ? ---- On Fri, 30 Oct 2015 12:34:32 -0500 david@... [yamahacs80] wrote ----

Re: Mono Modification
Hi Florian,
I'd need it for the adjustment procedure. I would add a switch to theAha, I see, sorry - I thought you were referring to pitch adjustment when you said tuning. Agreed, for envelope time adjustment my method would be of no use. But how about simply pressing four keys at the same time, trigging all the envelopes at the same time? (-: /mr - wouldn't want my CS-50 voices more closely calibrated than that ;-) |

my request is not about unisono because of its sound. I'd need it for the adjustment procedure. I would add a switch to the gate lines, so I could deactivate all voices but one (or some voices). Your method may still work for the pitch adjustment, but for setting the envelope times, I really have to have a synchronous start of the two voices I am comparing. Mono Modification
While restoring this CS50 I thought, that a mono-unisono mode would be very helpful for tuning. So I am looking for a description of that modification (especially for a CS50). I've searched the groups archive for it, but did not find any details about it. I only found it mentioned as taken for known.
Are there any detailed explanations somewhere? I tried to understand the principle of the KAS board, but I don't find any signal that resets the voice counter. I also don't find any significant difference between the KAS board of a CS50 and a CS60 (at least in this aspect). Florian |

The group settings seem to forbid attachments. You may either upload the picture to the photo section or send it me. I think I can identify them, as I restored two CS60 and a CS80 already. Florian Am 24.09.2015 um 11:27 schrieb blchrr@... [yamahacs80]:

Re: oops, there's an error in my last message...
Actually, I sent Kent proof of that privately, because I would want to know that if someone had been getting that much from something I had built. It is in fact, a fact that it goes for 850GBP on that site. ? But in any event, mine gives the end user the ability to do it himself/herself. My design is slightly different as well , but the functionality is the same. ?Thanks Tim On Sunday, September 20, 2015 11:31 AM, "Phil a nuipb1@... [yamahacs80]" wrote:
