The admins aren¡¯t the ones to ask.?
I was the first admin to work with Garrett, I started with him many years ago, and helped work towards the database that is in place now.?
The admins work for free, helping ensure that the data that is entered into the database is of high quality. But the admins don¡¯t ¡°own¡± the data.?
I¡¯m not up on all the different data licenses out there, but the data that is available is provided freely by many people, curated by more people for free, and is provided to the end user for free.?
But that doesn¡¯t mean anyone can do what they want with the data.?
Garrett has put a lot of work into the site and the database. The one thing that really puts a burr under his saddle is for others to take that data, and to repackage it and try to charge people for access.?
I would suggest talking directly to Garrett and tell him what you would like to do with the data, and see what he says.?
There¡¯s no harm in asking, and it¡¯s not like you¡¯re trying to get the attention of the CEO of some big corporation, he¡¯s just a guy that built and maintains something of value that he gives away to others to enjoy, kinda like that Andrew guy that lurks around here.?

I've already forwarded this to Garrett, the owner of RepeaterBook, to see what he says.? It would seem that if each user is downloading their own copy then it shouldn't be a problem.? That said, I haven't looked at the ToS closely.

The API is published here:?
I do see where in the TOS however, it does talk about data-mining. However, from the way read it, and it¡¯s totally based on my interpretation so YMMV, it does say that registered users are able to export one copy of the data for personal, non-commercial use. Technically, you are not charging for the use of YAAC, and since each person would need to register a login to get the data and use it for just their personal use (IE: exporting it to view on their own copy of YAAC), technically it is all non-commercial and personal use of the data.?
HOWEVER comma, it is certainly a gray area. If it would be something you would want to look into doing, reach out to the admins and see what they say? All they could say is no and you are no worse off then things are now. If they say yes, that would be a great use of their data, get them more exposure in applications and be a benefit to everyone.
On a personal note, I use Repeaterbook exclusively for repeater information when I am traveling. I won¡¯t pay RFinder and ARRL for access to data that is freely available with a few web searches. I get that RFinder uses the data in their propriety software to load to their devices, but I just can¡¯t justify that kind of cost when, with a little bit of leg work, I can find all the data every where else.?
Just my .02 cents and thoughts...
Jeff
Hmmm... does not have a published API for extracting their data machine-to-machine, and their terms of usage tend to prohibit creating a duplicate database from their data. So I suspect that I would not be allowed to do what you are asking.

What RepeaterBook? Since ARRL outsourced the Repeater Directory program to RFinder (and they made it solely a phone app), I don't know of any PC-accessible repeater directory any more.

Any thought to having a RepeaterBook plugin so there can be an overlay of repeaters (and related infrastructure) on the map from that service?
