OK, Dave, I'm going to need to have you provide me some debugging information:

1. what exact build of YAAC are you using (as displayed in the title bar of the map window), something like YAAC 1.0-beta156? I need to know if you are using an older build that might have problems.

2. a copy of the YAAC.out file from your configured log file directory (as seen on the File->Configure->Expert Mode dialog on the General tab). This file contains any unhandled error messages that have occurred while YAAC is running.

If you send any more screenshots, please do not crop off the edges of the YAAC windows; it was very difficult to figure out where you were without coordinate information (such as is provided by the lower-left corner of the YAAC map window) and zoom information (as shown by the map scale at the top of the map window).

? "Importing is very easy. On the YAAC menu, select File->OpenStreetMap->Download Pre-Imported Tiles, then when the dialog box comes up, select the area you want to download (re-downloads just overwrite your existing map data with newer data), and click OK to start the transfer.? "

this has been done several times, and I still have no maps showing.
